National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man successfully concluded his working visit to Türkiye.

On the evening of April 18th, National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man and his wife Nguyen Thi Thanh Nga, along with the high-level Vietnamese delegation, arrived back in Hanoi, successfully concluding their working trip to attend the 152nd General Assembly of the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU-152) and conduct bilateral activities in Türkiye.

During his working visit, National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man attended the opening ceremony and delivered an important speech at the General Debate of the 152nd IPU General Assembly.

In his speech, the Speaker of the National Assembly highlighted a comprehensive assessment of the world situation, noting its unprecedented and complex developments. In this context, the Speaker stated that the international community still has grounds for trust and hope in the future, through joint cooperation and international solidarity at the global and regional levels, and through practical actions by each nation, based on the rule of law, for peace and development.

The Speaker of the National Assembly put forward proposals to elevate the strategic level of cooperation between parliaments, including: promoting dialogue and building trust; developing legal frameworks, monitoring the implementation of international commitments, and ensuring fair and equitable law enforcement.

With an independent, self-reliant, self-strengthening, peaceful, friendly, cooperative, and developmental foreign policy, National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man affirmed that Vietnam is and will continue to actively, proactively, and responsibly participate with friends and partners in resolving common regional and international issues.

On this occasion, the Speaker of the National Assembly held numerous bilateral meetings with parliamentary leaders of other countries, thereby strengthening political trust and promoting cooperation in many fields such as economics, trade, investment, science and technology, innovation, digital transformation, and defense and security.

In Istanbul, the Speaker of the National Assembly held meetings with President Recep Tayyip Erdogan and Speaker of the Parliament Numan Kurtulmus. During these meetings, the leaders of both countries agreed that after nearly 50 years of diplomatic relations, Vietnam-Turkey relations have developed to a new, more strategic level, and that the relationship needs to be elevated to a level commensurate with the potential and prospects of both countries.

Affirming that there is still great potential for cooperation between the two countries, the leaders of both countries emphasized that economics, trade, and investment are important pillars of cooperation, creating favorable conditions to achieve the goal of increasing bilateral trade to 4 billion USD, and continuing to encourage Turkish businesses to invest in Vietnam, to contribute to Vietnam's economic development.

Both sides also agreed to continue promoting cooperation between the two Parliaments, strengthening exchanges of delegations at all levels; regularly exchanging and contacting the Friendship Parliamentary Groups of the two countries; sharing legislative and supervisory experiences, building a favorable legal framework for bilateral cooperation, thereby contributing to consolidating and deepening the multifaceted friendship and cooperation between Vietnam and Türkiye.

National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man attended a policy seminar to promote Vietnam-Türkiye cooperation; received the Honorary Consul of Vietnam in Istanbul; and met with officials and staff of the Embassy and the Vietnamese community abroad.

With its substantive activities, the working visit of National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man to Türkiye was a great success, contributing to affirming Vietnam's image as an active and responsible partner in promoting parliamentary cooperation and strengthening multilateralism; and at the same time creating a clear new step forward, strengthening relations between Vietnam and Türkiye in the future.
