National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man re-elected
With 100% of the National Assembly delegates present voting in favor, the National Assembly passed a resolution electing Comrade Tran Thanh Man - Member of the Political Bureau and Chairman of the 15th National Assembly - to the position of Chairman of the 16th National Assembly.
At its first session, the 16th National Assembly elected the Speaker of the National Assembly.
With 100% of the National Assembly delegates present voting in favor, the National Assembly passed a resolution electing Comrade Tran Thanh Man - Member of the Political Bureau and Chairman of the 15th National Assembly - to the position of Chairman of the 16th National Assembly.

After being elected, the new Speaker of the National Assembly took the oath of office as prescribed.
"Under the sacred red flag with a yellow star of the Fatherland, before the National Assembly and the people and voters nationwide, I, Chairman of the National Assembly of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, solemnly swear: To be absolutely loyal to the Fatherland, to the People, to the Constitution of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, and to strive to fulfill the duties entrusted to me by the Party, the State, and the People," National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man declared in his oath.
Following the swearing-in ceremony, National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man delivered a speech accepting his new position.
National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man respectfully thanked the voters of Ho Chi Minh City for their trust in electing him to the 16th National Assembly; he also respectfully thanked the National Assembly delegates for their confidence in electing him to the position of National Assembly Chairman, affirming that this is a great honor and a great responsibility before the Party, the State, the voters, and the people of the whole country.

The Speaker of the National Assembly stated that the country is standing at a historical turning point. While pleased with the achievements of the National Assembly over the past 80 years, he acknowledged that the National Assembly's responsibilities are extremely heavy, yet also incredibly glorious.
The 16th National Assembly will continue to inherit and build upon the achievements of previous terms with wisdom, firm political resolve, a desire for reform, and a spirit of serving the people.
The National Assembly will continue to strive to be worthy of being the National Assembly of the people, by the people, and for the people, truly the highest representative body of the people, the highest organ of state power, and a vivid embodiment of the socialist rule of law.
All for the goal of a prosperous people, a strong nation, democracy, fairness, and civilization. Fulfilling the duties and powers stipulated in the Constitution of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam and the tasks entrusted by the Party, the State, and the people.
"I pledge to dedicate myself wholeheartedly to serving the Fatherland and the people, working together with the National Assembly, the Standing Committee of the National Assembly, the agencies of the National Assembly, and the National Assembly deputies to continue innovating, promoting the application of science and technology, innovation, the digital National Assembly, artificial intelligence, and improving the quality and efficiency of operations. Actions must match words; we must act immediately, correctly, effectively, and thoroughly. We must continue to strongly innovate in legislative thinking, being cautious in our methods but decisive in our actions. We must focus on comprehensively perfecting the institutional framework to ensure rapid and sustainable national development, meeting the requirements of international integration," said National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man.
Improve the quality of oversight, focusing on monitoring law enforcement; consider oversight as a constructive tool to promote development; monitor, review, and urge the implementation of recommendations following oversight. Improve the quality of decision-making on important national issues. Continue to deepen parliamentary diplomacy, contributing to further enhancing Vietnam's position in the international arena.
