The youngest provincial chairman in the country, from Ha Tinh, was elected to the Provincial People's Council with a high number of votes.

Mr. Dang Quoc Khanh (40 years old), alternate member of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam, Chairman of the People's Committee of Ha Tinh province, is currently the youngest provincial-level chairman in the country, having just received 93.14% of the votes to be elected to the Ha Tinh Provincial People's Council.

On the afternoon of May 27th, the Ha Tinh Provincial Election Committee announced the results and the list of those elected as representatives to the 17th Provincial People's Council, term 2016-2021.

Accordingly, the total number of candidates for the Ha Tinh Provincial People's Council was 92, and 55 were elected. Mr. Dang Quoc Khanh, a candidate for the Provincial People's Council in electoral unit No. 6 in Can Loc district, was elected to the Ha Tinh Provincial People's Council for the 2016-2021 term with 93.14% of the votes, ranking third in the province after Mr. Trinh Van Ngoc, Chairman of the Vu Quang District People's Committee, with 94.69% of the votes in electoral unit No. 12 in Vu Quang district, and Mr. Dang Ngoc Son, Vice Chairman of the Ha Tinh Provincial People's Committee, with 93.46% of the votes in electoral unit No. 13 in Huong Khe district.

Mr. Dang Quoc Khanh (born in 1976), from Tien Dien commune (Nghi Xuan district, Ha Tinh province), holds a PhD in Urban and Construction Management. At the Ha Tinh Provincial People's Council meeting on April 21st, Mr. Khanh was elected Chairman of the Ha Tinh Provincial People's Committee. Taking office at the young age of 40, Mr. Khanh became the youngest provincial chairman in the country.

Earlier in his address to voters, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Dang Quoc Khanh affirmed that, if elected as a National Assembly representative, he would dedicate more time to getting closer to voters, understanding their thoughts and aspirations, and drawing on practical experience to work with the provincial leadership to research and propose to the National Assembly appropriate mechanisms and policies for the development of localities in general and Ha Tinh in particular; continuing to build upon the lessons learned from the leadership and guidance of previous generations, and working with the provincial leadership to strive to achieve the set goals and targets.

Along with the centralized political system, the province is implementing breakthrough tasks such as: striving to increase budget revenue, continuing to shift the economic structure, and striving to reduce the poverty rate... This includes a comprehensive review of the province's planning, investing in synchronized technical infrastructure, especially in rural areas; continuing to implement the New Rural Development program, particularly improving people's lives; focusing on investing in science and technology in agricultural production; beautifying and building civilized urban areas; ensuring national defense and security; and effectively resolving complaints and denunciations…
