Chairman of the People's Committee of Nghe An province, Nguyen Duc Trung, held a working meeting with the Vietnamese Consul General in Shanghai.
On the afternoon of May 30th, during their working visit to China, the high-level delegation from Nghe An province, led by Mr. Nguyen Duc Trung - Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee and Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, held a meeting with the Vietnamese Consulate General in Shanghai.
Joining the provincial leadership delegation were Comrade Nguyen Nam Dinh - Member of the Standing Committee of the Provincial Party Committee, Permanent Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Council; along with leaders from the Provincial People's Committee Office, the Southeast Economic Zone Management Board, the Department of Industry and Trade, the Provincial Party Committee's Organization Department, the Department of Foreign Affairs, and the Department of Planning and Investment.
Receiving and working with the delegation were Mr. Nguyen The Tung, Consul General of Vietnam in Shanghai, and other officials and staff of the Consulate General.
During the meeting, Mr. Nguyen The Tung, Consul General of Vietnam, happily welcomed the delegation to Shanghai; and provided information on some aspects of cooperative relations between Vietnam in general and its localities with Shanghai, Jiangsu Province, and Zhejiang Province of China.
Sharing information on the socio-economic situation of Shanghai, the Vietnamese Consul General in Shanghai stated that Shanghai has identified five major centers for development: international economy, international trade, international finance, international maritime transport, and international-level science and technology innovation.
The Consul General of Vietnam in Shanghai highly appreciated the achievements of Nghe An province, including its foreign economic activities, and expressed his hope that the province would continue to promote and proactively take advantage of opportunities to mobilize more resources for development.
Chairman of the Nghe An Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Duc Trung expressed his pleasure at meeting and working with the Vietnamese Consul General in Shanghai; and extended his sincere thanks to the Consul General and his colleagues for taking the time to welcome him and for assisting in connecting and arranging the delegation's work program in Shanghai.
Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Duc Trung informed the Vietnamese Consul General in Shanghai about the program of the delegation's visit and work in China, as part of the province's foreign affairs and investment promotion program, which has been approved by the Prime Minister.
The Nghe An province's business trip to China aims to expand cooperative relations with Chinese localities and investors; introduce the investment environment, mechanisms, and preferential policies that Nghe An province currently has to encourage investors to research, survey, and invest in the province; meet with businesses that have invested and are investing in Nghe An; and connect investors in industrial park infrastructure in Nghe An with Chinese businesses.
In a briefing on the province's socio-economic situation to the Vietnamese Consul General in Shanghai, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Duc Trung stated that a highlight of the province's recent achievements has been attracting FDI. Thanks to good preparation in infrastructure, human resources, and procedural support, Nghe An has transformed and risen to prominence in the last two years, consistently ranking among the top 10 localities attracting the most FDI nationwide.
To date, Nghe An has 137 active FDI projects from 14 countries, with a total investment capital of over 4.2 billion USD. Specifically, Nghe An has attracted 44 projects from China with a total registered investment capital of over 2.33 billion USD. Nghe An has developed an ecosystem of Chinese investors in the electronics manufacturing sector, including companies such as Foxconn, Goertek, Everwin, Luxshare, and Ju Teng.
The Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee emphasized that, in order to serve the socio-economic development of the province, attracting resources, especially investment from foreign enterprises, is very important. Nghe An identifies China as a key area, focusing on attracting projects in the processing and manufacturing technology sectors.
Comrade Nguyen Duc Trung stated that Nghe An has received attention from the Central Government, and recently the Politburo issued Resolution No. 39. It is expected that at the 7th session, the National Assembly will pass a resolution on piloting the addition of some specific mechanisms and policies for the province, supplementing resources and providing new impetus for the province's development.
Looking ahead, the Chairman of the People's Committee of Nghe An province hopes that the Vietnamese Consulate General in Shanghai will pay attention to, support, and act as a bridge between Nghe An's agencies and business communities and their Chinese partners in strengthening cooperation activities to attract investment, promote economic and trade relations, and create conditions for the province's rapid and sustainable development.
