Chairman of the People's Committee of Nghe An province, Vo Trong Hai, encouraged 740 citizens to enlist in the army.

On the morning of March 5th, in Tay Hieu ward, Comrade Vo Trong Hai - Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, and Chairman of the Provincial Military Service Council - attended the handover ceremony, encouraging 740 citizens from 26 communes and wards in the Northwest region of Nghe An province to enlist in the army in 2026.

Also attending were Comrade Pham Trong Hoang - Member of the Standing Committee of the Provincial Party Committee, Head of the Provincial Party Committee's Organization Department; leaders of the Provincial Military Command and local authorities.

This is the first year that military recruitment has been implemented under a two-tiered local government system. Region 3 - Quy Chau comprises 26 communes and wards.

Following the principle of "selecting only the right people," localities have meticulously and synchronously organized all stages of the selection process, ensuring compliance with the law, meeting quotas, and improving quality.

According to the allocation by the Provincial People's Committee, the area was assigned 740 official quotas and 48 reserve quotas; of which 658 citizens enlisted in the People's Army and 82 citizens performed their duties in the People's Public Security Force.

740 young men were assigned to 9 military units and 1 police unit, including: the 324th Division, the 341st Division, the 968th Division (Military Region 4), the General Department of Logistics and Technology, the Signal Corps, the Navy, the Air Force, the Nghe An Provincial Military Command, the Provincial Border Guard, and the Provincial Police.

Among the 658 citizens enlisted in the Army, there were 5 Party members; 269 young people had participated in Party awareness training courses; 4 were university graduates; and 13 had college or vocational school qualifications.

The population is ethnically diverse, with 221 Kinh citizens, 312 Thai citizens, 121 Tho citizens, 1 Mong citizen, and 3 Khmu citizens. Regarding religion, 5 citizens are Catholic.

At the ceremony, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Vo Trong Hai performed the traditional fire-lighting ritual. This ritual is a significant highlight of the annual military enlistment ceremony. The flame serves both as a symbolic reminder to the new recruits of their responsibility to continue the tradition and maintain their integrity and character within the military and police environment.

Following this ceremony, Comrade Pham Trong Hoang - Member of the Standing Committee of the Provincial Party Committee, Head of the Provincial Party Committee's Organization Department - performed the ceremonial drum beating to signal the departure of the troops and delivered a speech advising the young men before their departure.

The comrade affirmed that the 740 citizens enlisting this year are exemplary young people in terms of political qualities, morality, health, and education, clearly demonstrating the pioneering spirit, aspiration to contribute, and patriotism of the youth of Nghe An.

Recalling President Ho Chi Minh's teachings on the role of youth in the nation's destiny: "Youth are the pillars of the nation; the prosperity or decline, strength or weakness of the nation largely depends on the youth," he emphasized: "Today, you officially don the uniform of a soldier. This is not only an honor and a source of pride, but also a sacred responsibility before the Fatherland, the people, and your families."

To be worthy of being a soldier of the Vietnam People's Army, a soldier of the Vietnam People's Public Security, and fulfilling the mission entrusted to them, the Head of the Provincial Party Committee's Organization Department urged the young men enlisting to fully understand the honor and sacred responsibility entrusted to them by the Party, the State, and the people; to uphold the heroic traditions of their homeland and the glorious traditions of previous generations; to promote the fine qualities of Uncle Ho's soldiers and the traditions of the People's Public Security; to strive in all aspects, diligently study and train, strictly adhere to discipline, and excellently complete all assigned tasks.

“The Party Committee, the government, and the people of the province believe that the young men enlisting in the army in 2026 will worthily continue the traditions of their homeland, transforming pride into concrete actions, turning willpower into strength, and excellently fulfilling their assigned tasks, worthy of the trust and love of the Party Committee and the people,” Comrade Pham Trong Hoang emphasized.

On behalf of the young men enlisting in the army, new recruit Ho Van Tue from Thai Hoa ward expressed his determination to maintain his resolve, continuously study and train, overcome difficulties; strictly abide by discipline, actively participate in training, contribute to building the unit, and successfully complete assigned tasks.

Before the ceremony concluded, the Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, Vo Trong Hai, the Head of the Provincial Party Committee's Organization Department, Pham Trong Hoang, and leaders of the Provincial Military Command and other units and localities presented flowers to congratulate the young men enlisting in the People's Army and fulfilling their duties in the People's Public Security Force before they departed for their new units.

In 2026, Nghe An province finalized the number of recruits and issued conscription orders to over 3,800 citizens for military service and service in the People's Public Security Force; of which more than 36.5% volunteered; over 25.5% were ethnic minorities; over 76% had health classifications of type 1 and type 2; and more than 5% had university, college, or vocational school degrees.

Prior to their departure, the Party committees, government, Fatherland Front, and political and social organizations at the grassroots level effectively implemented the policy of supporting the military's rear areas. The provincial level provided 1 million VND per citizen to 885 cases of difficult circumstances; communes and wards provided support ranging from 2 to 5 million VND per citizen.

This year's military enlistment ceremony was held simultaneously at 7 locations across the province, ensuring solemnity, economy, and adherence to regulations, creating an atmosphere of enthusiasm and confidence among the people.
