(Baonghean.vn) - According to the design, the 40-meter-tall statue of Shakyamuni Buddha, built of cement, is expected to be completed by the end of 2020.

On July 13th, Phuc Lac Pagoda in Nghi Thach commune, Nghi Loc district, held a groundbreaking ceremony for the construction of a large statue of Shakyamuni Buddha. The ceremony took place in a solemn atmosphere with the presence of monks and numerous Buddhists from near and far.
Phuc Lac Pagoda was built during the Le Dynasty, about 400 years ago, but now only the foundation and some valuable ancient artifacts remain. In 2010, the pagoda was approved for restoration by the Provincial People's Committee.

During the construction and renovation of the temple, the statue of Shakyamuni Buddha was an important item among many components of the project.
At the ceremony, after the blessing ritual, the monks proceeded to break ground and begin the construction of the large statue of Shakyamuni Buddha.
