The bodies of the two workers from Nghe An who died in Laos cannot yet be brought back home.
(Baonghean.vn) - At noon on January 12, relatives of the two workers who died in the scaffolding collapse in Laos were still waiting at the La Lay International Border Gate (Quang Tri province) to receive the coffins carrying the two bodies back to their hometown.
The two deceased workers were Vo Van Tuan (born in 1985, from Phu Thanh commune, Yen Thanh district) and Phan Van Thai (born in 1993, residing in Hamlet 7, Tan Thanh commune, Yen Thanh district).
Dang Chau (from Nghe An province), currently working in Laos, said that the bodies of the two workers are still being kept at a church in Bac Xe district (Chan Pa Sak province, Laos), about 200km from the accident site.
Mr. Dang Chau added that after hearing about the accident, many Vietnamese people living and working in Laos came to light incense and pay their respects to the two unfortunate victims. Many people burst into tears in front of the portraits of the two workers, as they passed away at such a young age.

Although the relatives of the two workers had hired a vehicle to travel to the La Lay International Border Gate, due to procedural obstacles, they were unable to transport the vehicle to Bac Xe district to pick up the bodies and had to wait at the border gate. As of 12 noon on January 12th, the vehicle carrying the bodies of the two workers had still not arrived at the La Lay International Border Gate.
Mr. Tran Duy Liem, Chairman of the People's Committee of Tan Thanh commune (Yen Thanh district), said that the local authorities have helped the family with the necessary paperwork and preparations to receive Mr. Thai's body home and organize the funeral.
As previously reported, on the morning of January 11th, Tuan and Thai were working at the Muong Khong Hydropower Plant construction site in Laos when the scaffolding collapsed. The collapse resulted in the deaths of both men.
It is known that Mr. Thai is unmarried and has only recently come to Laos to work as a laborer.

As for Mr. Tuan, he is married and has two children, one in sixth grade and the other in kindergarten, and his family is facing financial difficulties.
