Join hands to help Quy Hop farmers consume PQ tangerines
After Nghe An Newspaper published the article “Output difficulties, PQ tangerines fall all over the garden in Quy Hop” on March 14, many individuals and organizations joined hands to help farmers sell their products, contributing to solving the difficulties for tangerine growers.

On the morning of March 20, in Minh Hop commune, Quy Hop district, the atmosphere was bustling as many traders and charity organizations came to the garden to buy tangerines to help farmers. A trader from Hanoi said: "After receiving information that PQ tangerines in Quy Hop were difficult to sell and prices were low, I connected with some friends in Hanoi to help buy them. This morning, we bought 10 tons of tangerines at prices ranging from 5,500 - 6,000 VND/kg, then packed them in boxes and transported them to Hanoi to sell at markets and supply to acquaintances. We expect to return to buy more in the next few days."

The joy was evident on the faces of the people when they saw the trucks coming to buy tangerines. Ms. Nguyen Thi Yen, a tangerine grower in Hamlet 8, shared: "For the past few weeks, tangerines have fallen all over the garden but no one has bought them, we are extremely worried. Thanks to the help of organizations and individuals, more than 4 tons of tangerines in my garden have been purchased. There are still about 6 tons left, if not sold in time, they will fall and rot. I hope to continue to receive support to sell them so that I can make ends meet and reproduce."
Not only traders from Hanoi, a group of traders from Vinh city also came to the place to buy tangerines. Mr. Tran Duc Minh, a trader in Vinh, said: "After receiving information that PQ tangerines are difficult to sell, we went to survey and found that the tangerines here are clean and do not use chemicals. Therefore, we decided to buy and bring them to Vinh to sell through markets and social networks. This morning, I bought 4 tons, rented a motorbike to transport them from the field to the gathering place to transport them to the city."

Besides the cooperation of traders, charitable organizations and unions in Nghe An also actively participated in the tangerine rescue campaign.
For example, Nghe An Provincial Youth Union has mobilized its members and youths, connecting with organizations and individuals to support the consumption of tangerines for the people. Up to now, the Provincial Youth Union has helped consume 12 tons of tangerines at the garden purchase price of 8,000 VND/kg.
Mr. Le Viet Minh, Director of Xuan Thanh Agricultural One Member Co., Ltd. also shared: "From March 18 until now, we have coordinated with individuals and organizations to rescue about 25 tons of tangerines. However, there are still about 80 tons that need to be consumed. We hope that more units will join hands to support farmers."

Although the "rescue" efforts are helping people reduce some of their difficulties, in the long term, the output problem for PQ tangerines is still a problem that needs to be solved.
According to Mr. Le Viet Minh, in recent years, the economic efficiency of PQ tangerine trees has been decreasing, reaching only about 25 million VND/ha. Therefore, the sustainable solution is to encourage people to switch to crops with higher economic value, helping to ensure stable income.
