(Baonghean.vn) - Realizing the increasing demand for royal bananas (also known as royal bananas), especially on the 1st and 15th of the lunar month, many households in the Chinese hamlet, Nghia Xuan commune (Quy Hop) have sought to develop this banana variety and so far 40/149 households have grown it, bringing in an additional income of 3 million VND/month for each household.

According to banana growers, bananas are easy to grow and care for, do not require much capital, and are more economically efficient than sugarcane and cassava. After a year of planting and care, bananas will bloom and be ready for harvest.

Each banana cutting produces many other seedlings, which continue to grow until they flower and are ready for harvest. Each banana bush can retain its roots for 10 to 15 years, depending on how each family cares for it.

Mr. Pham Minh Duc, in the Chinese hamlet, Nghia Xuan commune, said: His family grows 7 sao of royal bananas for business on the 1st and 15th of the lunar month, earning 2 to 3 million VND per month. This year, the income during Tet is about 30-40 million VND. According to Mr. Duc, "Bananas are a plant for fun and real food."

Ms. Hoang Thi Thanh, Head of the Farmers' Association of Tau Hamlet, Nghia Xuan Commune, said: From banana growing, households' revenue reaches about more than 800 million VND per year. Thanks to that, it has contributed to poverty reduction and increased the average income per capita of Tau Hamlet in 2016 to 26,320,000 VND/year.
