After the storm, fishermen in Nghe An province caught nearly 30 tons of anchovies at sea.

(Baonghean.vn) - On September 19th, several fishing boats from Quynh Luu district docked at Lach Quen port, overjoyed at their abundant anchovy catch following Typhoon No. 10.

Just two days after setting sail, the fishing boats of fishermen Ho Ba Dung (NA 97688) and Nguyen Ngoc Hien (NA 97778 TS) from Tien Thuy commune have harvested nearly 30 tons of seafood worth over 300 million VND. This trip mainly yielded anchovies.

According to Mr. Ho Ba Dung, the fishing grounds were quite rich in seafood after the storm. Monitoring the fish finder screen, he predicted a large school of fish, so he decided to drop anchor and harvested a huge quantity of anchovies; approximately 1,000 trays of fish.

Sharing the joy with Captain Dung's boat, Captain Nguyen Ngoc Hien also brought back a bountiful catch from the sea: over 20 tons of anchovies and nearly 10 tons of other fish, which he sold for over 300 million VND; after deducting expenses, each crew member earned nearly 10 million VND per fishing trip.

Currently, due to shortages after the storm, seafood caught by fishermen is being bought by traders at high prices. At Lach Quen port, black anchovies are priced at 12,000 VND/kg, and white anchovies at 14,000 VND/kg. Anchovies are purchased by traders for processing into fish sauce and drying for export to markets in China and Malaysia…

Immediately after selling off their catch, the fishing boats of the fishermen from Tien Thuy commune quickly refueled and replenished their supplies to set sail for a new fishing trip.
