German military experts believe the US is ready to negotiate on Ukraine.
(Baonghean.vn) - German army colonel and military expert Wolfgang Richter said that the US understands the risk of escalating conflict, and is therefore "quite willing" to negotiate with Russia on Ukraine, unlike Europe.
According to RT on March 14, in an interview with the Berliner Zeitung, military expert Colonel Wolfgang stated that negotiations are much more commonplace in the US than in Europe. He argued that "moralism" dominates Europe's pragmatic policies.
Furthermore, Colonel Wolfgang stated that, for Europe, negotiations to find peace in the Ukrainian conflict are an "impossible task" or "a betrayal."
Earlier, Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said that Russia was ready to negotiate on Ukraine, but before any responsible initiatives could be made, the decree banning dialogue with Russia issued by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky must be revoked.
Russian President Vladimir Putin once noted that Russia was ready to negotiate, but these negotiations had to be "based on reality, not on desires arising from the use of psychotropic drugs."
According to the Kremlin, the current conflict in Ukraine could be resolved peacefully if Kyiv acknowledges the "new reality" and accepts all of Moscow's proposals.
On Kyiv's side, President Zelensky rejected Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan's idea of holding a peace conference with Russian participation.
The Ukrainian leader reiterated his previous argument that a peace plan should be prepared by other countries without Russia's involvement.
Zelensky has repeatedly stated that Kyiv will only negotiate when Moscow accepts Ukraine's demands based on the 10-point "peace formula" he outlined at the end of 2022.
