German military expert says US is ready to negotiate on Ukraine
(Baonghean.vn) - German army colonel and military expert Wolfgang Richter said that the US clearly understands the risk of escalating the conflict, so it is "quite ready" to negotiate with Russia about Ukraine, unlike Europe.
RT news agency reported on March 14 that in an interview with Berliner Zeitung, military expert Colonel Wolfgang said that in the US, negotiations have become much more normal than in Europe. According to him, "moralism" dominates European pragmatism.
In addition, Colonel Wolfgang said that for Europe, negotiations to find peace for the Ukraine conflict are "mission impossible", or "betrayal".
Earlier, the official spokeswoman of the Russian Foreign Ministry Maria Zakharova said that Russia is ready for negotiations on Ukraine, but before taking any responsible initiatives, it is necessary to cancel the decree banning dialogue with Russia by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky.
Russian President Vladimir Putin has noted that Russia is ready for negotiations, but these negotiations must be "based on reality, not on wishes after using psychotropic drugs."
According to the Kremlin, the current conflict in Ukraine can be resolved peacefully if Kiev acknowledges the "new reality" and all of Moscow's proposals.
On Kiev's side, President Zelensky rejected Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan's idea of holding a peace conference with Russia's participation.
The Ukrainian leader reiterated his old argument that a peace plan should be prepared by other countries without Russia's participation.
Mr. Zelensky has repeatedly stated that Kiev will only negotiate when Moscow accepts Ukraine's requests on the basis of the 10-point "peace formula" he outlined at the end of 2022.
