Strange story: Making prosthetic legs for ducks with 3D printer
(Baonghean.vn) - A duck that lost its legs due to frostbite can now walk again thanks to the efforts of a high school teacher in Wisconsin, USA and a 3D printer!
Vicki Rabe-Harrison saved the life of a duck named Phillip and after watching a video about 3D printing on the Internet, she reached out to Jason Jischke - a teacher at South Park High School in Oshkosh, Wisconsin for help so Phillip could move normally like other ducks.
The work shows the love for animals and the love of science of the teacher and students, in fact it took 6 weeks to design and create a suitable pair of prosthetic legs for the duck.
During the first few times testing the prosthetic legs, Phillip the duck seemed quite wobbly but now he is 'confident' and integrates with other poultry and pets in the area.
