Strange story: Making prosthetic legs for ducks with 3D printers
(Baonghean.vn) - A duck that lost its legs due to frostbite can now walk again thanks to the efforts of a high school teacher in Wisconsin, USA and a 3D printer!
Vicki Rabe-Harrison saved the life of a duck named Phillip and after seeing a video of a 3D printer on the Internet, she reached out to Jason Jischke, a teacher at South Park High School in Oshkosh, Wisconsin, for help so Phillip could move normally like any other duck.
The work shows the love for animals and the love of science of the teacher and students, in fact it took 6 weeks to design and create a suitable pair of prosthetic legs for the duck.
During the first few times he tried out the prosthetic legs, Phillip the duck seemed quite unsteady but now he is 'confident' and blends in with other poultry and livestock in the area.
