Returning to the initial time of the case, at 9:00 a.m. on the 30th of Tet (February 15), an employee delivering chicken to the family of Mr. Mai Xuan Chinh (born in 1972, from Thanh Hoa) at the house in alley number 131, street number 7, KP.8, Binh Hung Hoa Ward, Binh Tan District was shocked to discover a woman's body collapsed dead right at the entrance. Upon receiving the report, the local police force sealed off the scene and investigated the incident.

Going deeper into the house, checking each room, we were horrified to discover the bodies of 4 more people, scattered in 3 bedrooms. From the crime scene investigation, the police quickly identified the suspect. |
Another detail is that the house has a ferocious German Shepherd, and strangers coming in and out will definitely be violently attacked by this dog. But from the 27th of Tet, when Mr. Chinh's family was still having a happy New Year's Eve party, until the incident was discovered, the morning of the 30th of Tet, the neighbors did not hear the dog barking, proving that the perpetrator must be a close acquaintance.
On the other hand, the murderer killed Mr. Chinh's entire family at the same time, even the 6-year-old child. The police determined that it was because they knew each other and wanted to cover up the clues.
The police also checked a series of security cameras in the surrounding area. This helped them narrow down the suspect, targeting people who entered and exited Mr. Chinh's house on the night of the 27th and early morning of the 28th, the time period when the crime occurred, according to the investigation.
The police focused on taking statements from some acquaintances and neighbors of Mr. Chinh's family and grasped important information.
Some neighbors said that Mr. Chinh's family held a year-end party on the afternoon of the 27th of Tet. They did not see the family's two long-time employees, but only saw a young man who had just been hired by Mr. Chinh. The neighbors had little contact with this young man, and seeing that he had dark skin, they thought he was an ethnic minority.

Suspect Nguyen Huu Tinh at the time of arrest. |
From many revealed details, Major General Phan Anh Minh directed to focus on the group of people working for Mr. Chinh's family and finally revealed the number 1 suspect as Nguyen Huu Tinh. The police tried to contact Tinh but were unsuccessful. After quickly verifying at Tinh's hometown in Chau Lang commune, Tri Ton district, An Giang province, Tinh's parents said that Tinh did not return home for Tet and they lost contact with their son.
Detectives from the Criminal Police Department - Ministry of Public Security and the Criminal Police Department of Ho Chi Minh City Police have targeted a series of border gates in An Giang, Tay Ninh, Long An... to set up checkpoints because they are worried that the suspect will escape across the border.
At noon on the first day of Lunar New Year, a task force discovered Tinh drinking with friends at a location in Can Giuoc district, Long An province, with Mr. Chinh's motorbike right next to him. The reconnaissance team immediately approached and arrested the subject before he could react.
Thus, from the time the case was discovered until the arrest of suspect Tinh was less than 24 hours.
On the afternoon of the first day of Tet, Tinh was transferred to Ho Chi Minh City Police. Faced with undeniable evidence, Tinh confessed that the motive for the crime was to take revenge on his boss and his wife and to rob them.
At this time, all the investigation forces breathed a sigh of relief… Only a few investigators continued to take Tinh’s statement, clarifying the related details. The remaining hundreds of detectives and investigators… were temporarily considered off duty, and could go home for Tet.
They celebrated Tet a little late because of their duty, but felt relieved when they were able to ease some of the pain of the families of the 5 victims and reassure society when the perpetrator of the tragedy was quickly arrested.
