Cong Phuong and Xuan Truong's club explains why they didn't accept Quang Nam's V.League spot; Messi and the "unusual" story at Inter Miami; Ronaldo shocks with his desire to bring Bruno Fernandes to Al Nassr in a £200 million "bombshell" deal... these are some of the prominent sports news stories in the past 24 hours.

The club where Cong Phuong, Xuan Truong, etc. currently play, Dong Nai, has not accepted the V.League 2025/26 slot left vacant by Quang Nam.

Cong Phuong will continue playing in the First Division next season.

The Đồng Nai team's leadership stated, "The club held a meeting with careful and comprehensive consideration of all aspects, and above all, the interests and feelings of the fans," leading to the decision to "not register to participate in the 2025/26 National Championship."

Dong Nai FC explained: “We deeply understand that participating in the National Football Championship is a great honor, a milestone that every club aspires to. Therefore, the decision not to participate this season was an extremely difficult one. But looking back, it's not the glory or prestige that bothers us the most, but the question: Are we ready to make our fans proud? Because we don't want to enter the V.League just to 'participate'."

“We believe this journey takes time, but it’s the time needed for the club to become the best version of itself. The day we return to the V.League 1 will surely come. And when that happens, Dong Nai will be a team with a fierce fighting spirit, a team with depth, its own identity, internal strength, and most importantly, a community of fans who will always love and be proud when they talk about the club”...

This decision also means that Cong Phuong will have to play at least one more season in the First Division. Currently, the team is training under head coach Nguyen Viet Thang.

Vietnamese-born player Chung Nguyen Do didn't show much in his unofficial debut for Ninh Binh Club.

A few days after arriving in Vietnam and joining training with Ninh Binh FC, Vietnamese-American midfielder Chung Nguyen Do participated in his first match in Vietnam. It was a pre-season match for the 2025/26 season between Ninh Binh FC and Hanoi FC at Hang Day Stadium.

One challenge for Chung Nguyen Do was the weather conditions. Hanoi's temperature reached 34 degrees Celsius, and the extremely hot and humid weather on August 2nd significantly affected the player's unofficial debut. Witnessing Chung Nguyen Do being affected by the extreme weather, the Ninh Binh Club coaching staff immediately substituted him off the field.

Immediately afterwards, Chung Nguyen Do was given cold water and ice packs. He continuously drank water and washed his face to cool down. Speaking to the media, Chung Nguyen Do said he needed time to adjust to the hotter weather conditions compared to Bulgaria. Returning to Vietnam two weeks earlier than the start of the V.League was necessary for Chung Nguyen Do to adapt to the external conditions.

With Lionel Messi, there's no such thing as "discarding him when he's sick or old." Inter Miami wants to stay with him for as long as possible.

They are trying to persuade the 38-year-old superstar to sign a new contract for at least three years, instead of the one-year contract model that many top European clubs typically use.

Inter Miami owner David Beckham wants to sign Lionel Messi to a long-term contract.

Lionel Messi's current contract with Inter Miami expires at the end of December this year. The two sides are negotiating an extension. It is almost certain that the eight-time Ballon d'Or winner will continue his association with the Major League Soccer (MLS) team. The only question is when M10 will officially sign the contract and how it will be signed with the team owned by former football legend David Beckham.

Inter Miami is trying to persuade Lionel Messi to sign a long-term contract. Specifically, owner David Beckham wants to secure the Argentine superstar for at least three more years, meaning until Messi turns 41. He even eagerly stated that he wants Messi to play for them for as long as possible. The club's leadership has also painted a picture of the former Barcelona star becoming a member of Inter Miami's board of directors after he announces his retirement. This is understandable, given that Messi is a major shareholder in Inter Miami.

The "blockbuster" deal is worth up to £200 million (approximately 6.967 billion VND).

To prepare for the 2025-2026 season, Ronaldo and his associates are quietly working on the biggest "blockbuster" deal of the current summer transfer window.

That means persuading Manchester United midfielder Bruno Fernandes to join Al Nassr for a new world-record fee of £200 million, A Bola reported on August 2nd. On the same day, the Daily Mail also confirmed the news, adding that negotiations are underway.

If Bruno Fernandes leaves, it would be a huge shock for MU, as the 30-year-old midfielder is an indispensable pillar of the Old Trafford team.
