Speaking at the University of North Carolina, the former US secretary of state said that Mr. Trump's comments were similar to what dictators in undemocratic countries say about their opponents.
“Mr. Trump’s failure to respect the results of the election is a direct threat to American democracy,” Clinton said. “The peaceful transfer of power is one of the things that makes America great.”
Mr. Kellyanne Conway, senior advisor to Mr. Trump, admitted that the Republican candidate is falling behind Mrs. Clinton.
Mr Conway also said Mrs Clinton had “overwhelming advantages”, including a huge budget that would allow her to spend millions of dollars on television ads.
However, Mr. Trump's side is still looking for ways to influence undecided voters, making them not vote for Mrs. Clinton.
As the polls widened, Mr. Trump repeatedly claimed that there was “election fraud” against him. However, Mr. Trump did not provide evidence to support his suspicions.
Also during her visit to North Carolina, Mrs. Clinton encouraged her supporters to vote early.
During a campaign rally in Naples, Florida on October 23, Mr. Trump also encouraged voters to vote for him and Republican candidates running for Congress and other offices.
In the latest Reuters/Ipsos poll published on October 21, Mrs. Clinton is leading Mr. Trump by 4%, and according to national research results, this congresswoman has a 95% chance of winning at least 270 electoral votes to ensure winning the US presidency.
An ABC News poll on October 23 also showed that Mrs. Clinton is leading with the possibility of gaining 50% support, while Mr. Trump only has 38%. In addition, since mid-October, the number of Republicans who are likely to vote for Mr. Trump has decreased by 7%.
Now, Trump advisers and campaign members are trying to play down his comments about the credibility of the election, a possible sign that the candidate will come under significant pressure to accept the results even if he loses.
Earlier, on ABC's show, Trump's son Eric shared: "I think what my dad wanted to say was 'I want a fair election'. If the results are not fraudulent, my dad will completely accept it."
