Speaking at the University of North Carolina, the former US Secretary of State argued that Trump's comments were similar to what dictators in undemocratic countries say about their opponents.
Clinton stated, "Trump's disregard for the election results is a direct threat to American democracy. A peaceful transfer of power is one of the things that makes America what it is."
Kellyanne Conway, a senior advisor to Trump, acknowledged that the Republican candidate is falling behind Clinton.
Conway also said that Clinton has "overwhelming advantages," including a massive budget that allows her to spend millions of dollars on television advertising.
However, Trump's side is still trying to influence undecided voters, trying to prevent them from voting for Clinton.
As the gap in polls widened, Trump repeatedly claimed there was "election fraud" against him. However, he failed to provide any evidence to substantiate his allegations.
During her visit to North Carolina, Clinton also encouraged her supporters to vote early.
During a campaign rally in Naples, Florida on October 23, Trump also encouraged voters to cast their ballots for him and other Republican candidates running for Congress and other offices.
In the latest Reuters/Ipsos poll published on October 21, Clinton is leading Trump by 4%, and according to national research, the congresswoman has a 95% chance of winning at least 270 electoral votes to secure the US presidency.
An ABC News poll on October 23 also indicated that Clinton was leading with the potential to reach 50% of the vote, while Trump only had 38%. Furthermore, since mid-October, the number of Republican voters likely to vote for Trump has decreased by 7%.
Currently, Trump's advisors and campaign members are trying to downplay his comments about the credibility of the election. This could be a sign that the candidate will be under considerable pressure to accept the election results even if he loses.
Earlier, on an ABC program, Eric, Trump's son, shared: "I think what my dad was saying was, 'I want a fair election.' If the results aren't rigged, my dad will completely accept it."
