The fact that a 7-year-old girl can lift weights many times her body weight has caused a lot of controversy. Most viewers are afraid of the injuries she may encounter.
However, Rory's family said she has her own doctor and a pediatric sports doctor who closely monitor and care for her. They are all coaches and experts in weightlifting and gymnastics, ensuring Rory does not lift too much weight and avoid injury.
"An injury to a child can have a huge impact, so with a child Rory's age, we would never let her lift too much weight," said Greg Chinn, founder of JustLift Gym.
Last year, Rory placed 8th out of 13 competitors at the U.S. National Junior Championships for girls under 13. She was also the youngest competitor in the group.
