8 year old girl was molested by her cousin

On June 13, the Provincial People's Court opened the first instance criminal trial of Vi Van Hieu (born 2002), residing in Chau Binh commune, Quy Chau district, for the crime of "Raping a person under 16 years old". Hieu's victim was T (born 2010) - a relative of Hieu.

According to the indictment, on the evening of February 15, after returning from a walk, Vi Van Hieu saw T. sitting and playing on the street. He invited the child to his house. There, the young man used his hand to cover the child's mouth and then sexually abused him.threatened the victim not to reveal the incident to anyone or he would be beaten to death.

Then, on the afternoon of February 16, Hieu went to the girl’s house. Knowing that no adults were home, Hieu went into the shop and had sex with her. The victim screamed loudly, afraid of being discovered, Hieu ran home.

Discovering that her child had many signs of psychological instability and genital injuries, Ms. H. questioned her and her child recounted the incident. Immediately, the child's parents took their child to Hieu's house to talk and ask for clarification. Knowing that he could not deny it, Hieu admitted his actions.

On February 17, Hieu's family took him to the Quy Chau District Police investigation agency to surrender.

The conclusion of the sexual forensic examination showed that VTHT had been sexually abused. At the time of the incident, the victim was only 8 years, 11 months, and 21 days old, while Hieu was not yet 17 years old.

At the trial, the defendant admitted his crime and said that due to youthful impetuosity, he had had sexual intercourse with the victim against her will.

Considering the case as a whole, the panel sentenced Vi Van Hieu to 12 years in prison. Regarding civil liability, because both parties had agreed and completed the implementation, the panel did not consider it.
