(Baonghean.vn) – “She appeared on stage like an angel” is the flattering comment that singer Toc Tien – one of the three powerful judges of the Vietnam Idol Kids program – gave to Tran Thi Diep Nhi (8 years old) – a student at Dong Hieu Primary School (Thai Hoa Town).

Currently, Diep Nhi and her mother are in Ho Chi Minh City to prepare for the top 5 round of Vietnam Idol Kids, after overcoming thousands of contestants in the Audition round, the Theater round, and Live Show 1.

Ms. Nguyen Thi Hue, Diep Nhi's mother, said that despite the stressful changes in weather and daily schedule, Diep Nhi was fortunate to maintain good health and enthusiasm in each performance.

In particular, the little girl is very friendly to everyone, always smiling, greeting politely, and adapting to group environments very quickly. "Every day, she brings me a new surprise," Diệp Nhi's mother shared.

Diep Nhi showed a talent for music from an early age. At the age of two or three, she showed great interest and sang along fluently to children's songs played on television or from music CDs her parents bought.

However, due to the family's living conditions in a remote, mountainous area, there were no professional cultural and artistic centers where the child could be regularly exposed to music, so initially the family didn't pay much attention to it.

The opportunity to perform on stage came in 2014 when VTV3's "Do Re Mi" program – Vietnam Television – held auditions for young contestants. Hearing the news, many of her fans, who were neighbors, encouraged and urged Diep Nhi to apply. That year, she competed and made it to the top 40 contestants in the Hanoi region. In 2015, Diep Nhi shone again on the "Do Re Mi" stage, reaching the top 6 and winning the award for Best Performance Style.

This year, the young star from Nghe An continues to affirm her style and voice at the Vietnam Idol Kids competition. Behind the scenes, few know that Diệp Nhi and her mother had to overcome many difficulties to participate in music competitions.

Diệp Nhi's father works in the military and is often away from home, while her mother is a housewife who takes care of the family. Diệp Nhi's mother, Nguyễn Thị Huệ, admitted, "I'm quite old-fashioned; I don't know how to use a touchscreen phone, air conditioner, elevator, or other modern technological gadgets. Our family isn't very well-off. Therefore, taking my daughter to the exam has led to many awkward and funny situations."

From having to wait for someone to press the elevator button when using the elevator, to staying at a 5-star hotel and having to ask the reception to borrow a standing fan because she didn't know how to use the air conditioner… Out of love for her child, wanting her to pursue her dream of singing and have meaningful childhood memories, she overcame all the unfamiliar things in such a big, unfamiliar city.

In recent episodes of Vietnam Idol Kids, many viewers noticed that Diệp Nhi was accompanied by her mother, who was hobbling on crutches. Ms. Nguyễn Thị Huệ unfortunately had a traffic accident, just one day after taking Diệp Nhi to the Vietnam Idol Kids audition in Hanoi.

The accident caused her to break her leg, and she was rushed to Hospital 103 (Hanoi) for emergency treatment. This critical time coincided with the next round of the competition where Diep Nhi had to compete for the golden ticket. “The day Nhi won the golden ticket to the next round, her father brought her to the hospital to visit her mother. Seeing her mother's leg in pain, Nhi burst into tears, and everyone in the ward felt sorry for her…” – Ms. Hue recalled. Most importantly, despite the difficulties, Diep Nhi and her mother received a great deal of love and encouragement, both material and spiritual, from relatives, friends, neighbors, and colleagues. The two shared that this was the priceless gift their family received from the competition.

For Diệp Nhi and her mother, participating in a nationwide children's music competition wasn't about seeking glamorous moments on stage, but simply about pursuing their child's talent, providing her with a meaningful playground, joy, and cherished childhood memories.

Meanwhile, Diep Nhi innocently said, "I love singing. Winning a prize in a competition would be more fun, but if I don't win... I'll still be happy!"
