A mass wedding held in India is sparking outrage among child rights activists because the brides and grooms are all minors, some as young as 5 years old.

A young woman wearing a pink veil performed the ceremony, pleading for help as she was forced to walk around a bonfire seven times, according to Hindu ritual.It was the Akshaya Tritiya ceremony, which took place over two days, with six couples getting married. One five-year-old bride, wearing a red wedding dress, burst into tears during the ceremony with her eleven-year-old groom.
This illegal wedding is causing outrage among child rights groups.The legal marriage age in India is 18 for women and 21 for men.
"My heart was pounding in my chest when I saw those children caught up in this tragedy."Kriti Bharti, a child rights activist and founder of the charity Saarthi Trust, said.
"The police must act immediately. The video clearly shows a clergyman involved. Adults involved must also be held accountable, in addition to the children's families, including those who decorated the festival, the servers, friends, and relatives."
To date, Kriti has canceled 29 child marriages in Rajasthan and prevented 850 other marriages from taking place.
