Transgender girl swindles 1.5 billion VND thanks to being able to speak both male and female voices

On August 24, the Investigation Police Agency of Nghe An Province Police announced that the unit had just issued a decision to prosecute the case, prosecute the accused, and detain Pham Thi Phuong Loan (born in 1990, residing in Vu Thu district, Thai Binh) to investigate the act of "Fraudulent appropriation of property".

Pham Thi Phuong Loan was accused by Nghe An Police Department of fraud against Ms. Nguyen Thi Van (residing in Nghi Xuan commune, Nghi Loc district) to appropriate 1.5 billion VND.

According to the police, Pham Thi Phuong Loan was a woman but later changed her gender from female to male. After the surgery, Loan could speak in both male and female voices. With this advantage, Loan began to find ways to commit fraud.

At the end of 2017, Ms. Nguyen Thi Van used a Facebook account named “Khanh Van” to post a photo and status with the content of looking for a person named Anh to get back the bail money to prevent escape when traveling to Korea. Loan was using a Facebook account named “Thomas Ngo” at that time and read this content, so she created a Facebook named “Trang Giay To” and then texted and chatted with Ms. Van.

Loan introduced herself as Khanh and said she had a friend named Ngo Duc Minh who worked at the Consulate and could help Ms. Van get her money back. However, Ms. Van did not know that the person named Minh was also Loan.

On October 16, 2017, Loan texted Van saying she had found Anh’s address but demanded 60 million VND before providing it. Because she had no money, Van refused.

Not giving up on the idea of ​​defrauding Ms. Van, on October 21, 2017, when she learned that she was going to Hanoi, Loan, pretending to be Minh, made an appointment to meet her and promised to lend Ms. Van 60 million VND to transfer to Khanh. When Ms. Van called Khanh, Khanh confirmed that he had received the money.

A few days later, Minh used the excuse of needing money urgently to ask Van to pay. Although she was cheated out of 60 million VND, Van did not suspect anything. Khanh lured Van to Korea and promised to give Anh's address, but she did not agree because she did not have money.

Not stopping there, Loan continued to scheme to cheat Ms. Van's money for the second time. After many conversations, knowing that Ms. Van intended to do the procedures for someone else to travel to Korea, Loan continued to use the name of Khanh to introduce another person named Nguyen Thanh Be (actually Loan) who was able to do the procedures for people to travel to Korea.

Trusting her, Ms. Van found 16 people who wanted to travel to Korea and asked Bé to help with the procedures. Bé asked Ms. Van to pay 6,500 USD/person, including 1,500 USD deposit and 5,000 USD anti-escape fee, and urged Ms. Van to submit the customers' documents to catch the flight on December 19, 2017.

On December 9, 2017, Ms. Van transferred 16,000 USD to Nguyen Thanh Be's account (Loan found her ID card and opened her account). On December 11, 2017, Ms. Van brought the documents to Hanoi to send to Be, and Loan asked someone else to pick them up for her.

A few days later, Loan urged Van to pay the remaining amount and Van transferred 49,500 USD to an account under the name of Pham Thi Phuong Loan. On December 18, Van continued to transfer 45,540,000 VND, the fine because 2 people in the group canceled their flight to Korea. The total amount of money Loan defrauded Van was about 1.5 billion VND.

Once she had received the money, Loan closed her social media accounts and turned off her phone. Unable to contact Loan, Ms. Van realized she had been scammed and went to Nghe An Provincial Police to report the matter.
