Among the 12 people discovered by the police engaging in illegal religious activities and proselytizing in an apartment on the 5th floor of Golden City 3 apartment building (located in Nghi Phu commune, Vinh City), three are students from the National Economics University and Nghe An University of Economics, and one is a young woman who recently graduated from college.

Twelve people are involved in activities related to the "Church of God" in Vinh City.

On the night of April 29th, after being taken to the Nghi Phu Commune Police Station (Vinh City), two male students from Nghe An and Quang Binh provinces stated that they were students who had been lured into studying and following the "Church of God." They joined without asking for their families' opinions or permission. When they arrived at Mr. Quynh's room, they were shown videos related to recruitment into the "Church of God," and were also given books to read, such as "God the Father, God the Mother," and "Elohist" books.

Female student LTH (from Yen Thanh district, Nghe An province) reported: She was recently lured to an apartment on the 5th floor of Golden City 3 apartment building to learn about and participate in the Mother God group, but was discovered and given an explanation. She understood and will now abandon her involvement and no longer participate in or learn about it.

After writing statements, giving testimony, and receiving explanations, the students and those involved signed pledges to renounce the “Church of God.”

In her commitment letter, Ms. TTN (born in 1995, from Thanh Lien commune, Thanh Chuong district) wrote: “I realize that participating in the church is a violation of the law because it is not permitted by the State. I promise that from now on I will no longer participate in the church. I hope the legal authorities will consider my case and mitigate my sentence.”

As previously reported, at approximately 6:30 PM on April 29th, the Vinh City Police, in coordination with other professional units of the Nghe An Provincial Police, inspected an apartment on the 5th floor of the Golden City 3 apartment building in Nghi Phu commune, Vinh City, belonging to Mr. Hoang Xuan Quynh (born in 1980, from Yen Thanh town, Yen Thanh district).

Previously, the Nghi Phu commune police received a report from residents about a group of people in an apartment on the 5th floor of Golden City 3 apartment building who were suspected of engaging in illegal religious activities related to the "Church of God".

At the scene, police discovered 12 people (6 men, 6 women) engaging in illegal proselytizing activities; they confiscated numerous books and documents related to the religion of God.

Initially, at the police station, Mr. Hoang Xuan Quynh - the owner of the apartment - confessed that some friends from Quang Binh and Nghe An provinces had entered his apartment to socialize and study the Bible when they were discovered by the authorities.

According to the Vinh City Police Department, the preaching of the Church of God at this apartment building is an illegal activity, contrary to the law. The Vinh City Police Department has issued an administrative penalty to Mr. Hoang Xuan Quynh for failing to register his temporary residence at the apartment building.

Previously, on April 25th, the Ha Tinh Provincial Police warned the public to be vigilant against the so-called "Church of God" (also known as the Mother God Church). According to the Ha Tinh Provincial Police, the "Church of God" first appeared in Ha Tinh in May 2016, originating from a group led by Thieu Van Hoan (32 years old, from Hung Loi commune, Hung Nguyen district, Nghe An province).

They rented accommodations in various locations in Ha Tinh province, posing as marketing or sales staff, to carry out propaganda and entice people to join the "Church of God" organization.
