The story of the girl who is said to be the victim of a kidnapping in Bac Thanh commune, Yen Thanh has partly shed light on the case that has stirred public opinion in recent days in the rice-growing countryside.

In recent days, information about a 7-year-old girl being kidnapped in Dong Thanh commune, Yen Thanh district (Nghe An) has appeared on social networks, causing public confusion and worry.

That is Phan Thi Van (born 2010), residing in hamlet 5, Bac Thanh commune, Yen Thanh. Following the address provided by the facebook account owner, we went to Bac Thanh commune to verify the incident.

Ms. Tran Thi Hai, Van's mother, said: "I took my eldest and youngest children to my maternal grandparents' house in Hamlet 15, Dong Thanh Commune 2 days ago, while Van stayed at home with her grandmother. At around 9am on July 9, my younger brother had to come over so he picked her up to go to her grandparents' house. At around 12:30pm, while the whole family was taking a nap, she got up, opened the door to go to the bathroom and never came back."

Immediately after that, Hai's family organized people to search for her and reported the incident to Dong Thanh Commune Police. At about 3:00 p.m. the same day, Hai's family found Van at a relative's house in Hamlet 8, Bac Thanh Commune.

Frightened by our presence, after a while of being encouraged by her mother, Phan Thi Van recounted the incident of her being kidnapped by two strangers: “When I went out to use the restroom, an aunt stood at the gate of my grandmother’s house and called me out. When I came out, the aunt asked me if I wanted to go out with her. I was scared and ran in, but the aunt pulled me back and carried me out the gate. At that time, there was an uncle sitting on a motorbike, wearing a mask. He pinched my mouth, put a pill in it, poured water in it and forced me to drink it.”

According to Van, when they reached Hamlet 8, Bac Thanh Commune, she cried out loud. “At that moment, two people passing by saw her crying and stopped to watch. Then the uncle and aunt stopped the car and let her down on the road…”

The story of Van’s sudden disappearance became the focus of social media when some people reported that Van’s disappearance was due to kidnapping. This information was posted and received hundreds of comments and dozens of shares from netizens.

In another development, while public opinion was very confused, Ms. Nguyen Thi Hang (residing in Hop Thanh hamlet, Nam Thanh commune) spoke up about this matter.

To find out the incident, we also had a conversation with Ms. Nguyen Thi Hang, she said: “At about 1:30 p.m., I went from my grandparents' house in Dong Tro hamlet, Dong Thanh commune to Nam Thanh and met a little girl walking alone in the Nha Ba slope area. I stopped the car and asked her where she was going so I could take her, but she refused to get in. I told her to get in and I would take her home because it would be dangerous if she met a bad person while walking alone, so she agreed to get in the car. When she met me, Van did not show any signs of crying or panic.

On the way, I asked him where he was going. Did his parents know? He said he was going home from his grandmother, and his parents also knew. I asked him whose child he was. Where did his house live? He said his house was down there, it was old. At that time, the hilly road was deserted, and it was noon, so I was very scared. I drove according to his instructions to take him home. When we reached the gate of Hamlet 1 - Trung Thanh, I asked him if he was almost home yet. He said he was almost home. I told him to get off here and go home by himself, and he agreed. Then I turned around and went back to Nam Thanh commune.

The leader of Dong Thanh Commune Police said that immediately after receiving information about Van's disappearance, the commune began to investigate. Van left her grandmother's house in Dong Trung hamlet, Dong Thanh commune at noon on July 9, but this was not a child kidnapping case as reported on social media.

Ms. Tran Thi Hai, Van's mother, appeared quite confused: "We really don't know exactly whether there was a kidnapping or not, but I think the child could not have made up a story about being kidnapped by someone else in such a systematic way. Since the incident, she has shown signs of panic, often crying and running away when people come to visit her."

On the evening of the same day the incident occurred, Ms. Hai's family took Van to Yen Thanh District General Hospital for examination, but up to this point, the child still showed signs of panic and anxiety./.
