(Baonghean.vn) - My Ly Valley in Ky Son district runs along the poetic Nam Non river, which is likened to the land of "white rice and clear water" in the Western region of Nghe An and is also the land of beautiful women with white skin.

Passing through the highlands, the land of the Mong people in Huoi Tu and Muong Long communes of Ky Son district, going down the nearly ten-kilometer long Pha Bun slope, you will reach My Ly commune. This area is nearly 60 km from the center of Ky Son district.

Thai villages with stilt houses are spread out on the picturesque mountain slopes. The commune has 12 villages, most of which are nestled along the Nam Non River. In the summer, women with bare shoulders can be seen on the riverbank, looking for snails and catching fish. Every afternoon, the riverbank becomes a bathing place for the villagers. Men bathe upstream, and women bathe downstream.

Walking along the asphalt road along the river, one could hear the giggling and splashing of Thai girls. It was an unwritten rule that when one was at the bathing spot, one was allowed to go topless and bathe freely.

People in Western Nghe An often tell each other that My Ly girls are the most beautiful in the mountainous region. Tall and slender, with fair skin, a liberal and hospitable lifestyle, many people from far away seem to "lose their way home" when they set foot in My Ly.

My Ly commune, part of the ancient My Ly village, existed until the government fell to the revolution in 1945. However, the lives of the people here were still quite isolated because of the difficult roads. Only in 2011 did the asphalt road reach the commune center. Therefore, the old way of life still exists in every stilt house, in every village. The girls still have long black hair, which enhances their fair skin even though many of them are past their teenage years.

Thai people believe that the water source determines the white skin of the girls of My Ly commune. In addition, nature and pure food sources are also factors that make the graceful figures here more graceful and also exude a bit of wildness.

The Thai people in My Ly live next to the Nam Non River, which is rich in shrimp and fish. Aquatic products such as river shrimp, catfish, and bream are the main food sources for the residents here. Native vegetables also appear frequently in daily meals. The high mountain terrain helps the mountain girls get used to moving when they first learn to walk. Perhaps this is also a reason why the skin and figure of My Ly girls captivate tourists.

Mr. Lo Van Diep, Xang Nua village, My Ly commune, shared: “Almost all villages in the commune have famous beauties. But the place with the most beauties is still Xieng Tam, the central village of the commune, and Cha Nga, located near the Vietnam-Laos border.”

According to Mr. Diep, nowadays, the influence of cosmetics and modern hair dyes is having a significant impact on the lifestyle of My Ly girls. This guy said that he still feels more sympathetic towards girls who have long hair and do not use cosmetics. Because the long hair and natural skin of My Ly mountain girls are already very beautiful.
