The data is collected from the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), which contains all relevant information about theq personoverduefrom 1999 to 2014. A total of 39 million people died in the US in the past 15 years.
Looking at the statistics table below, you can see that the total number of deaths each day of the week is quite even, with the lowest being 5.6 million people on Sunday and the highest being 5.7 million people on Saturday. On the 7th day, the victims weretraffic accidentas well as deaths from drug overdoses at their highest levels all week. Deaths from firearms and heart-related diseases were also higher on Saturdays than on any other day of the week.
Some possible explanations are that on weekends, people tend to gather, excessive alcohol use. The use of alcoholic beverages leads to behavioral effects as well as the ability to lose control when participating in traffic.
In the US, the number of deaths due to drug overdoses is often related to drugs and illegal substances, so "happy" weekends can also be the cause of this situation.
In addition to the above factors, in the CDC study there are many other reasons why people die such as cancer, industrial accident,Alzheimer's disease, diabetes, suicide and even many people die from contact with poisonous plants or animals. It is worth noting that most of the above list appear with high frequency on Saturday, so perhaps we need to be more careful on the first day off this week.
