HPG shares unexpectedly lead in liquidity.
During the morning trading session on October 29th, HPG shares became the center of attention, leading the entire market in liquidity with over 23 million units traded.
Opening the trading session on the morning of October 29th, after maintaining its upward momentum for a few minutes, the VN-Index quickly reversed direction, fluctuating and turning around to correct.
Amid selling pressure that dominated the market, key sectors traded quite divergently, particularly with significant selling pressure from energy stocks, causing the VN-Index to fall to around 1,760 points.
Amidst a sluggish market, steel stocks emerged as a bright spot thanks to strong demand. HPG rose by approximately 3%, leading the market in liquidity with over 23 million units traded.
At the same time, two stocks in the same sector, NKG and HSG, also traded positively. On the HNX exchange, VGS at one point reached its maximum limit and is currently up about 7% with trading volume among the highest in the market. Meanwhile, TVN increased by nearly 3%, and also led UPCoM in terms of trading volume.
The banking sector was in the red, with TCB (-0.45%), VCB (-0.17%), VIB (-0.35%), VPB (-1.49%), and MSB (-0.31%). Similarly, the oil and gas sector was in the red, with BSR (-4.35%), PLX (-4.38%), PVS (-4.38%), PVD (-4.28%), and OIL (-1.54%).
Real estate group: VIC (-0.33%), VHM (-0.94%), VRE (-1.04%), VPI (-0.86%), NVL (-1.43%) and DXG (-0.9%). Securities group: VIX (+0.4%), VND (+1.12%), LPS (-1.56%) and VCI (+0.26%).
At the close of trading, the VN-Index fell 12.12 points to 1,754.53 points (-0.69%) compared to the previous session. Similarly, the HNX-Index decreased by 257.33 points (-0.97%), equivalent to 2.53 points, and the UPCoM-Index decreased by 124.22 points (-1.21%), equivalent to 1.52 points.
Market liquidity reached VND 8,131.59 billion, with 355 million shares traded. Across the sector, 81 stocks rose, 218 fell, and 52 dropped to their reference price.

According to experts at Asean Securities Company, the VN-Index is maintaining a positive short-term trend, closing at 1,767 points, holding firm above the MA10 and MA20 lines with dominant buying pressure during the session. However, the market remains neutral due to the lack of consensus between price and momentum.
With the RSI at 55 and the MFI weakening at 39, the index is likely to continue consolidating within a narrow range at the beginning of the next session before establishing a clearer trend at the resistance zone of 1,780 - 1,790 points.
In this context, short-term investors should maintain an average portfolio weighting, avoid chasing prices, and focus on trading within the support zone of 1,760 - 1,770 points, while prioritizing stock groups with unique stories such as state divestment, market upgrade, or offshore cycles.
