The VN-Index surpassed the 1,800-point mark thanks to strong momentum from VIC, but the trading screen was not entirely positive, with red dominating.

Opening the trading session on the morning of August 25th, the market continued its upward trend, with VIC shares playing a key supporting role in helping the VN-Index surpass the psychological 1,800-point mark.

However, the index's upward momentum doesn't fully reflect the overall trend, as VIC contributed almost the majority of the increase. This stock is currently up about 4%, while red still dominates the electronic board, indicating a fairly clear divergence in the market.

In the remaining sectors, trading was generally not very active, with most stocks fluctuating within a narrow range, and there was no strong enough momentum to spread the upward trend across the entire market.

In the real estate sector, gains were recorded at VIC (+4.48%), VHM (+1.91%), VRE (+1.38%), VPI (+1.86%), CEO (-0.75%), TCH (-1.51%), and NVL (-0.7%). In the banking sector, gains were recorded at TCB (+0.32%), VPB (+0.76%), VCB (+0.84%), LPB (+2.04%), MBB (+0.24%), HDB (-0.18%), SHB (-1.24%), and CTG (-0.31%).

In the financial services sector, VIX (+0.72%), SSI (+0.47%), VCI (+1.58%), HCM (+0.76%), MBS (+0.56%), ORS (-2%), VND and VCK fell to the reference price range. In the oil and gas sector, BSR (-1.82%), PLX (-1.58%), PVS (+0.79%), PVD (-0.52%), and OIL (-1.44%) fell.

At the close of trading, the VN-Index rose 18.33 points to 1,807.11 points (+1.02%) compared to the previous session. Similarly, the HNX-Index increased by 283.39 points (+0.07%), equivalent to 0.2 points. Meanwhile, the UPCoM-Index decreased by 127.41 points (-0.27%), equivalent to 0.34 points.

Market liquidity reached VND 10,320.97 billion, with 389 million shares traded. Across the sector, 115 stocks increased, 1176 decreased, and 70 fell to the reference price.

According to experts at Kirin Securities Joint Stock Company, the market maintained positive signals, with the VN-Index experiencing its second consecutive strong increase, forming a three-session winning streak. Liquidity remained high, with today's trading volume equivalent to the end of last week and nearly 16% higher than the 20-day average.

The downside is that the VN-Index narrowed its gains towards the end of the session, and the overall market's upward momentum was heavily dependent on large-cap stocks in the Vin Group (VIC, VHM).

The trend of the VN-Index was further strengthened by today's increase and is heading towards the expected resistance level of 1,820-1,840 points.

Investors continue to favor a portfolio-holding strategy, avoiding chasing rallies and only opening additional positions to increase their holdings when the overall market experiences fluctuations.
