Choi Soon Sil, the woman at the center of a scandal involving the South Korean president, recently said she "committed a crime deserving death."

"Please forgive me. I'm sorry. I committed a crime worthy of death," Ms. Choi told reporters on her way to meet prosecutors on October 31.

Choi Soon Sil just returned from Germany on the morning of October 30. According to Yonhap, the longtime close friend of the South Korean female president had to try to get through a large crowd of media, protesters and security forces around the entrance to the Seoul prosecutor's office.

Previously, on October 25, the South Korean president admitted that he had passed many confidential documents to his longtime friend Choi Sun Sil for policy advice and to have her help edit some of his speeches. The scandal shook the entire country of South Korea and caused Park Geun Hye's reputation to fall to a record low.

South Korean prosecutors are investigating whether Ms. Choi took advantage of her close relationship with President Park for personal gain.

The media said that although Ms. Choi does not have an official position in President Park Geun Hye's cabinet, she plays an important role in many government issues./.
