5 year old child lost 8km from home because father was busy playing with phone
While engrossed in playing with his phone, a father let his 5-year-old child wander onto the main road to look for his mother. Only when he saw a news report about a missing child did the Chinese father realize it was his child.
The story happened in Zhangjiagang, eastern Jiangsu province, China when Mr. Hong was responsible for looking after his 5-year-old son, named Kai Kai. But because he was too engrossed in playing with his phone, this father let his son run out onto the main road, 8 km away from home.

Luckily, a person living nearby saw the boy and thought he was lost from his parents. After being sure, this person reported to the local police.
When police arrived, the boy was too young to remember his home address or his parents’ phone number, so they took him to the police station and decided to report the incident on social media.

People's Daily Online reported that two hours after the announcement was published (around 6 p.m. the same day), the boy's father called the Leyu police station to retrieve his son.
According to Kai Kai, he was playing in the yard when he decided to go find his mother. Street cameras recorded Kai Kai running through intersections and wandering on deserted streets, which is very dangerous for a 5-year-old child.

Although the incident happened late last month and little Kai Kai was not injured, it is a warning for parents to keep a closer eye on their children.
