Trump's daughter chairs White House meeting in place of father
A British newspaper reported today that Ivanka Trump, daughter of US President Donald Trump, replaced her father in chairing a roundtable meeting on human trafficking with members of the US Congress at the White House on May 17.

According to the British newspaper Independent, the meeting chaired by Ivanka was attended by the Republican Majority Leader in the House of Representatives, Mr. Kevin McCarthy, and a number of congressmen from both the Democratic and Republican parties.
It is known that Mr. Trump could not chair this meeting because the time coincided with his speech to the graduates of the US Coast Guard Academy in Connecticut.
The roundtable meeting chaired by Ivanka appeared to be another sign that Mr. Trump's daughter's role is growing rapidly in the US President's administration, according to the press.
White House spokeswoman Lindsay Walters said the meeting was the result of a February discussion between Mr. Trump and his daughter Ivanka with representatives from several organizations involved in human trafficking.
As an unpaid “advisor” to the US President, Ivanka has sat at the table with many world leaders and represented the US at the W20 Women’s Summit in Germany. She herself has admitted that her role – as a private citizen, not a government official – in the White House is “unprecedented”.
