Jealousy of a 60-year-old man in Saigon
Seeing his wife sleeping next to the hired worker, Mr. Dao became jealous and beat the worker to death with a stick.
On January 25, the Ho Chi Minh City People's Court sentenced Nguyen Dao (61 years old) to 14 years in prison for murder.
Testifying in court, Mr. Dao stated that he did not intentionally kill the victim. On the day of the incident, he climbed over the wall to check on his children while they slept and saw his wife embracing the female employee, which he couldn't control.
However, the panel of judges ruled that the defendant's testimony was unfounded. Due to baseless jealousy, the defendant caused exceptionally serious consequences and deserved severe punishment.
Mrs. Hoa (Dao's wife) appeared upset and denied her husband's testimony. She said her husband was unreasonably jealous and beat her. That day, she was so tired that she fell asleep on the floor, about a meter away from where the male driver was.

The investigation revealed that Mr. Dao and Mrs. Hoa (48 years old) have four daughters, reside in Tan Binh district, and run a business selling scrap textiles. Due to frequent conflicts between the couple,At the end of 2016, Ms. Hoa rented a house in Tan Thoi Nhat ward, District 12, to use as a warehouse and brought her children to live there.
Ms. Hoa hired Mr. Chu (40 years old) as a driver to transport goods and allowed him to stay overnight for convenience during the delivery.On February 21st, Mr. Dao went to have dinner with his wife and children and saw Mr. Chu loading and unloading goods, which made him jealous. He demanded to move in with them, but Mrs. Hoa disagreed. An argument ensued, and Mrs. Hoa called...The local police arrived and asked my husband to leave the house.
Early the next morning, Mr. Dao climbed over the gate and broke into the first floor, discovering his wife sleeping on the floor near the servant. Enraged, he went downstairs, grabbed a stick, and returned to hit Mr. Chu on the head. Mrs. Hoa woke up and was also struck in the face with the stick by Mr. Dao.
Hearing the cries for help, Mr. Dao's children, who were sleeping in the next room, ran over to intervene and call the police. He then struck the victim on the head one more time, causing him to collapse on the spot. (Chu)He was taken to the hospital but died, while Mrs. Hoa suffered minor injuries.
In November 2017, the court brought the case to trial but returned the file for further investigation to clarify certain details.
