Police release new details about the deaths of three tourists in Da Nang.
Da Nang police have taken samples of insecticide from the hotel for testing to determine the cause of death of the three victims.
On the afternoon of September 28, at the regular quarterly press conference of the Da Nang City People's Committee, Colonel Nguyen Dinh Chinh, Deputy Director of the Da Nang Police, stated that the investigative agency is taking samples of insecticide from the hotel to determine the cause of death of the two tourists, a mother and her child.
The third victim to die was a 3-year-old boy.According to Colonel Chinh, during the investigation, the police also discovered two other cases staying at the same hotel on Ho Nghinh Street, who were also hospitalized for emergency treatment.
Specifically, on September 15th, a couple named Minh and Nhung rented a room on the second floor of the Hilary Hotel (Ho Nghinh Street, Son Tra District, Da Nang City) to stay. That evening, they ate noodles at a shopping mall in Son Tra District, then returned to the hotel to rest.

At 7 PM, Ms. Nhung and Mr. Minh showed symptoms of dizziness, vomiting, and fatigue, so they had to be hospitalized for emergency treatment. Thanks to the timely treatment by the doctors, both of them have since been discharged from the hospital.
Earlier, at 5:00 AM on September 15th, while on vacation in Da Nang, the family of Mr. Dang Ngoc Van (29 years old, from Dien Chau district, Nghe An province) also chose to stay at the Hilary Hotel. At 6:30 AM the same day, when the other group of tourists checked out and left the hotel, the family from Nghe An remained.
An hour later, Mr. Van called the receptionist to ask for an ambulance. When the receptionist called a taxi up to the room, they found the 29-year-old man exhausted, his wife unconscious, and their 4-year-old son crying.
Although taken to Hoan My Hospital for emergency treatment, Mr. Van's son and wife died. "The 29-year-old man was transferred to Da Nang Hospital for emergency treatment and has regained consciousness," Colonel Chinh said.
According to the police, on the afternoon of September 15th, Nguyen Minh Khoi (3 years old, son of Nguyen Kim Thu, residing in Lien Chieu district, Da Nang) and his grandmother, Nguyen Thi Xuan, who were staying in room 203 of the Hilary Hotel, went down to the lobby for a walk and ate steamed buns.
Later, Khoi and Mrs. Xuan were both hospitalized due to vomiting and diarrhea. Mrs. Xuan received timely emergency treatment and recovered, but Khoi passed away in the early morning of September 16th.
Take samples of the insecticide for testing.Colonel Chinh stated that the Da Nang City Police have examined the scene and collected numerous samples to aid in the investigation. The hotel rooms where guests stayed during the incident have been sealed and are undergoing forensic examination by the police.

"The Da Nang City Police have completed the autopsy, taken statements from the surviving family members and those involved," Colonel Chinh informed.
The Deputy Director of the Da Nang City Police also added that in August, the Hilary Hotel hired a company (headquartered in Hai Chau District, Da Nang City) to spray insecticide. The city police have collected samples of the insecticide for testing.
In addition, during the investigation, the police identified the names of the guests who were staying at the hotel during the time of the incident and extracted data from the hotel's security cameras.
"The cause of the incident is still under investigation, and we are awaiting the results of the forensic examination of related samples from the Institute of Criminal Science of the Ministry of Public Security," Colonel Chinh said.
