Da Nang police have taken samples of insecticide at the hotel for testing to determine the cause of death of the three victims.

On the afternoon of September 28, at the regular press conference of the City People's Committee for the third quarter, Colonel Nguyen Dinh Chinh, Deputy Director of Da Nang Police, said that the investigation agency is taking samples of insecticide at the hotel to determine the cause of death of the mother and child tourists.

The third victim died was a 3-year-old boy.

According to Colonel Chinh, during the investigation, the police discovered two other cases staying at the hotel on Ho Nghinh Street, who were also hospitalized for emergency treatment.

Specifically, on September 15, a couple named Minh and Nhung rented a room on the 2nd floor of the Hilary Hotel (Ho Nghinh Street, Son Tra District, Da Nang City) to stay. That evening, the two ate noodles at a shopping mall in Son Tra District, then returned to the hotel to rest.

At 7pm, Ms. Nhung and Mr. Minh showed signs of dizziness, vomiting, and fatigue, so they had to be taken to the emergency room. Thanks to timely treatment by doctors, the two people were discharged from the hospital.

Previously, at 5:00 a.m. on September 15, when arriving in Da Nang for a vacation, the family of Dang Ngoc Van (29 years old, from Dien Chau district, Nghe An province) also chose the Hilary hotel to stay. At 6:30 a.m. the same day, when the group of tourists checked out and left the hotel, the family of the tourist from Nghe An still stayed.

An hour later, Mr. Van called the receptionist to ask for an ambulance. When the receptionist called a taxi to the room, they found the 29-year-old man exhausted, his wife fainted, and his 4-year-old son crying.

Van's son and wife were taken to Hoan My Hospital for emergency treatment, but they died. "The 29-year-old man was transferred to Da Nang Hospital for emergency treatment and has regained consciousness," said Colonel Chinh.

Also according to the police, on the afternoon of September 15, Nguyen Minh Khoi (3 years old, son of Nguyen Kim Thu, living in Lien Chieu district, Da Nang) and his grandmother Nguyen Thi Xuan, staying in room 203 of Hilary hotel, went for a walk in the lobby and ate dumplings.

Afterwards, Khoi and Mrs. Xuan were both hospitalized for vomiting and diarrhea. The grandmother was given timely emergency care and survived, while Khoi died in the early morning of September 16.

The Deputy Director of Da Nang City Police also added that in August, Hilary Hotel hired a company (headquartered in Hai Chau District, Da Nang City) to spray insecticide. The City Police collected insecticide samples for testing.

In addition, during the investigation, the police identified the names of the guests who stayed at the time of the incident and extracted camera data from the hotel.

"The cause of the incident is still under investigation and awaiting the results of the examination of related specimens from the Institute of Criminal Science of the Ministry of Public Security," said Colonel Chinh.
