The police in Tuong Duong district successfully apprehended two wanted fugitives.

As part of a concentrated campaign to crack down on crime and ensure security and order before, during, and after the Lunar New Year of the Year of the Snake 2025, the Tuong Duong District Police launched an operation, coordinating with other functional forces to persuade one wanted suspect to surrender and arresting another wanted suspect.

Previously, on July 14, 2009, the Investigation Police Department of Tuong Duong District issued Wanted Notice No. 09 against Luong Trong Tan (born in 1973), residing in Hoa Nam Hamlet, Thach Giam Town, Tuong Duong District, for the crimes of illegally trading narcotics and escaping from detention. Tan was formerly an official of the People's Committee of Tuong Duong District.

During his time in hiding, the suspect frequently changed locations and made significant alterations to his appearance and identifying characteristics in order to evade detection by law enforcement agencies.

Through intelligence gathering, the police in Tuong Duong district discovered that this extremely dangerous wanted suspect was hiding in Bolikhamsai province, Lao People's Democratic Republic.

With the approval of the provincial police leadership, the Tuong Duong district police established two task forces to go to Laos to track down the suspect.

After several days of monitoring the suspect's movements, at 4 PM on December 23, 2024, the Tuong Duong District Police, in coordination with the Drug Crime Investigation Department, the Cau Treo International Border Gate Border Guard Post, and the Bolikhamsai Provincial Police (Laos), successfully arrested Luong Trong Tan.

On the same day, the unit successfully persuaded Vi Manh Cuong, born in 1994, residing in Dinh Yen village, Yen Hoa commune, Tuong Duong district, to surrender. He was wanted under Decision No. 561, dated June 25, 2024, of the Criminal Investigation Agency of Tuong Duong District Police for the crime of gambling.
