After more than two weeks of work since the Lunar New Year holiday, the Immigration Management Department (Nghe An Provincial Police) has completed the paperwork for thousands of people applying for passports and travel documents. Despite the large workload, thanks to administrative procedure reforms and increased staffing, the issuance of passports and travel documents has proceeded smoothly and efficiently.

According to Lieutenant Colonel Nguyen Thi Huong Giang - Deputy Head of the Immigration Management Department (Provincial Police): To serve the needs of people applying for passports and travel documents in the early days of the year, officers and soldiers did not take compensatory leave for Tet holiday but mobilized 100% of their personnel to work. Every day, the unit started working at 7:00 AM (30 minutes before the regulated working hours), and increased overtime work, regardless of noon or evening, to process received applications and forward them to the Immigration Department for passport issuance within the prescribed time, without any backlog or delays. To achieve the set goals, the unit had previously implemented many measures to ensure that officers and soldiers could quickly get to work. This included paying attention to checking and operating information technology equipment and technical software systems to ensure continuous, smooth, and uninterrupted operation, best serving the needs of citizens. Currently, instead of submitting applications in person, citizens can complete passport application procedures through online services. However, because not everyone is tech-savvy, the number of people visiting the Immigration Management Department of the Nghe An Provincial Police for guidance on passport application procedures remains quite high in the working days after Tet (Lunar New Year). In addition, the number of people applying for travel documents has also increased significantly. Photo: Dinh Tuyen

Statistics show that after the Lunar New Year holiday, besides the need for tourism and visiting relatives, most people apply for passports for overseas employment, mainly to Japan and South Korea, and for travel documents to Laos. Recognizing this demand, during peak periods, the Immigration Management Department strengthens coordination with the Truong Thi Ward Police and the Traffic Police Team (Vinh City Police) to ensure security, order, traffic safety, and to deal with those who solicit customers. In addition, to prevent people, especially those in mountainous and remote areas, from being scammed by individuals offering to handle passport and travel document applications on their behalf, the Immigration Management Department issues daily warnings in three languages: Vietnamese, Hmong, and Thai. At the same time, to enable citizens to apply for passports independently, in addition to assigning officers to provide direct guidance, the Immigration Management Department also implements guidance through various methods, ensuring that it covers audio, visual, and written information. Specifically, besides the loudspeaker system, the Immigration Management Department's headquarters has televisions with step-by-step instructions so that citizens can apply using computers or phones, and there are also instructional leaflets. Furthermore, the Immigration Management Department - Nghe An Provincial Police's Fanpage also posts many instructions on procedures and answers to frequently asked questions. Photo: Dinh Tuyen

Ms. Lo Thi Lan, from Que Phong, shared: "I'm preparing my application for overseas employment. This is my first time going through this process, so I'm quite unfamiliar with it. But thanks to the dedicated guidance of the officers at the Immigration Management Department, I completed the procedures quickly and was able to return home the same day." Nguyen Van Thong, from Quynh Luu district, said: "I heard that it gets very crowded in the first few days of the year, so I waited until after the full moon of the first lunar month to come, but it was still just as crowded. However, I still feel satisfied because everyone was given thorough guidance and waited their turn in an orderly manner." Photo: Dinh Tuyen

Despite the increased number of people coming in person compared to normal days, along with a large volume of applications received online, after more than two weeks of work since the Lunar New Year holiday, the Immigration Management Department has successfully received and processed 7,073 applications for passports and 1,224 applications for travel documents.
