Truong Vinh ward police arrested a gambling gang consisting mainly of women.
Truong Vinh Ward Police, Nghe An Province, successfully dismantled a Phom gambling ring led by Nguyen Thi Phuong, arresting 8 related subjects.
Through understanding the situation, the Crime Prevention Team of Truong Vinh Ward Police discovered that on Dang Van Ngu Street (in the old Hung Dung Ward), there were often many strangers gathering, showing suspicious signs related to gambling activities.
The group operated in a sophisticated manner, arranging lookouts, picking up and dropping off gamblers, frequently changing locations to solid houses with "tiger cages" and installing surveillance cameras to deal with the authorities. Notably, the subjects were only allowed to participate when introduced by acquaintances and all had their phones confiscated to avoid being tracked.
After a period of synchronous deployment of professional measures, at about 4:00 p.m. on August 13, 2025, in the area of Dang Van Ngu Street, the Ward Police mobilized maximum forces, divided into many groups, and simultaneously raided.caught the ringleader red-handedNguyen Thi Phuong (born in 1976, residing in Hai Loc commune, Nghe An province) and 8 other subjects were gambling in the form of phom. At the scene, the police seized 30 million VND, 9 mobile phones and many other related evidences.
At the police station, the subjects initially confessed to their illegal acts.
Currently, Truong Vinh Ward Police are completing procedures and handling the subjects according to the provisions of law.
