Police search for District Chairman due to unusual absence

Quoc Oai District has requested the Hanoi City Police to search for Mr. Nguyen Hong Lam, Chairman of the District People's Committee, because he has been absent from the office for nearly a week.

Speaking to the press tonight, Secretary of Quoc Oai District Party Committee Nguyen Van Tho confirmed that Mr. Nguyen Hong Lam has not been to work and his phone has been turned off since December 26, 2017.

Mr. Tho said that the district has reported to the City Party Committee and People's Committee about the unusual "disappearance" of the District Chairman for nearly a week.

“The city police are actively searching for Mr. Lam. Related issues must wait for the results of the police force’s work,” said Mr. Tho.

According to Mr. Tho, on December 26, 2017, the district had a meeting and Mr. Lam asked to be absent from this meeting, but did not request a long leave.

After seeing that Mr. Lam did not come to the office, the district leaders also tried to contact Mr. Lam but his phone was turned off. Mr. Lam's family reported his "disappearance".
