Police are investigating the vandalism of passion fruit plants in Que Phong.
(Baonghean.vn) - Following the incident where more than 1,200 passion fruit plants belonging to Nafoods Passion Fruit Joint Stock Company were cut down, the Que Phong District Police have established an investigation team to handle the case.

Following the incident on August 10, 2017, where more than 1,200 passion fruit plants in the production area of Nafoods Passion Fruit Joint Stock Company were cut down, residents of Pich Nieng village, Tri Le commune, Que Phong district (where the incident occurred) expressed their outrage at this act of destruction.

During discussions, the villagers suggested that the root cause of this situation may stem from the fact that 5 hectares of their agricultural land, which was confiscated in 2014, have still not been adequately compensated. The residents also claimed that the company's use of chemicals during production has polluted the living environment in the residential area of Pịch Niệng village.
However, while those issues remained unresolved, an unfortunate incident occurred, causing concern and anxiety among the people of Pich Nieng village.

"The destruction of the passion fruit plants by the company has caused great concern and surprise among our Party branch and villagers. We request that the higher authorities promptly investigate and clarify this matter so that the people can have peace of mind," suggested Mr. Cut Van Thu, Secretary of the Party branch of Pich Nieng village.
On the part of Nafood Passion Fruit Joint Stock Company's leadership, they believe that the repeated acts of vandalism, especially the sabotage on the night of August 10th, were part of a systematic and organized plan.

This situation has caused the business losses of approximately 1 billion VND and affected security and order in the ethnic minority border area of Que Phong district. |
The incident not only caused serious economic damage and significantly affected the company's production plans and development strategies, but also impacted the province's major policy of expanding the passion fruit growing area to 1,500 hectares by 2020, mainly concentrated in the two districts of Que Phong and Tuong Duong.
On the afternoon of August 23rd, in an interview with Nghe An Newspaper, Mr. Le Van Giap, Chairman of the People's Committee of Que Phong District, affirmed that the act of cutting down passion fruit vines as described above is an act of sabotage by malicious individuals and is unacceptable. After receiving a report from the company, the People's Committee of Que Phong District issued document No. 988 instructing the Head of the District Police to investigate and handle the case according to the law. "The district's stance is to resolutely find the perpetrators of the sabotage and bring them to justice in order to stabilize the production situation of businesses investing in the area and to stabilize the morale of the people," Mr. Le Van Giap affirmed.
Lieutenant Colonel Dang Van Hieu, Deputy Head of Que Phong District Police, said that immediately after the incident occurred, the district police established a task force of 6 officers led by Lieutenant Colonel Vi Van Quang, Head of the Criminal and Economic Police Team, to go to Tri Le commune to collect evidence, delineate the investigation area, and quickly bring this act of sabotage to light.
