Police in Nam Dan commune arrested two individuals for online football betting.
The police in Nam Dan commune (Nghe An province) have successfully cracked a case, arresting two individuals for gambling in the form of online football betting. Initial investigations indicate that the total amount of money transacted in gambling from May 1, 2026, until their arrest exceeded 400 million VND.
The two arrested individuals are Le Van Cao (born in 1980) and Nguyen Van Thinh (born in 1983), both residing in Nam Dan commune. Through intelligence gathering, the Nam Dan commune police discovered that the suspects regularly participated in football betting and dice games through online websites and applications, using multiple accounts to conduct transactions in order to conceal their activities.
After establishing a special investigation and implementing operational measures, on July 3, 2026, the police arrested Le Van Cao and Nguyen Van Thinh, seizing two mobile phones along with many related documents and electronic data.
Initial investigations determined that on July 1, 2026 alone, the two suspects participated in gambling in the form of football betting and dice games with an amount of approximately 56 million VND. From May 1, 2026, until the time of their arrest, the total amount of money involved in gambling by the suspects was determined to be over 400 million VND.
Currently, the Nam Dan commune police are continuing to investigate and expand the case.
