Chau Binh is a mountainous commune in Quy Chau district, located about 22 km northwest of the district center. With over 90% of its population being ethnic Thai people, the income of the residents mainly depends on agriculture, forestry, and small-scale commercial services. Therefore, overall, the lives of the people still face many difficulties.

However, with a tradition of unity, creativity, and hard work, the Party Committee and people of Chau Binh commune have made many efforts to rise up and achieve many proud accomplishments, making important contributions to the overall achievements of Quy Chau district as well as Nghe An province in the new rural development movement.

During the period 2013-2021, Chau Binh commune mobilized over 197.59 billion VND in resources for new rural development. The investment in rural transportation infrastructure and irrigation canals has created favorable conditions for farmers to develop production. Production and business establishments have also developed, contributing to job creation and increased income for the local people.

In 2014, the average per capita income in Chau Binh commune was 14.8 million VND/person/year, and by 2020 it had reached over 40.2 million VND/person/year. The poverty rate was only below 5%. Education, healthcare, and environmental sanitation have also been given attention, strengthened, and upgraded. The material and spiritual lives of rural people have improved significantly, and the rural landscape is more spacious, green, clean, and beautiful… In November 2021, Chau Binh commune was recognized by the Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee as a commune meeting the standards of a new rural area.

Presenting the certificate of recognition and award to Chau Binh commune, Comrade Hoang Nghia Hieu congratulated and praised the proud achievements and results in building new rural areas in Quy Chau district and Chau Binh commune.

Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Hoang Nghia Hieu suggested: In the coming time, the Party Committee, government and people of Quy Chau district and Chau Binh commune should continue to thoroughly understand and effectively implement the new rural development program, focusing on key areas such as strengthening propaganda and mobilization efforts to encourage people to actively and enthusiastically participate in construction to maintain, preserve and improve the criteria for building an advanced new rural commune.

Mobilizing and integrating resources in building new rural areas aims to create sufficiently strong and synchronized resources to build and improve criteria; focusing on developing production, promoting cooperation, joint ventures, and linkages along the product value chain, and building and developing many effective economic models; preserving, protecting, and promoting the fine traditional cultural values ​​of the homeland; and taking care of environmental sanitation and protecting a healthy living environment for the people.

Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Hoang Nghia Hieu expressed his confidence that the Party Committee, government, and people of Chau Binh commune will continue to leverage their advantages, proactively seize development opportunities, strive to build a progressively developing commune, soon achieve advanced new rural commune status, and identify goals and advantages to build a model new rural commune, becoming one of the leading examples in the new rural development movement of Quy Chau district.

To date, Nghe An province has 299 out of 411 communes recognized as meeting the standards for new rural areas, accounting for 72.75%; 20 communes have achieved advanced new rural area standards and 2 communes have achieved model new rural area standards; 6 district-level units have achieved/completed the task of building new rural areas, namely Thai Hoa town, Hoang Mai town, Vinh city, Nam Dan district, Yen Thanh district, and Nghi Loc district… In addition, Quynh Luu district is completing the procedures to submit to the Prime Minister for recognition as a district meeting the new rural area standards in 2021.
