New directive from the Prime Minister on more effective disease response.
Given the complex developments of the COVID-19 pandemic in many localities and the emergence of a new Omicron variant in some countries, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh has just signed Official Dispatch 1677/CĐ-TTg dated December 4, 2021, addressed to ministries, ministerial-level agencies, government agencies; and People's Committees of provinces and centrally-administered cities, directing the work of epidemic prevention and control.

After nearly two months of implementing Government Resolution No. 128/NQ-CP dated October 11, 2021, on "Safe, flexible adaptation and effective control of the COVID-19 epidemic," the COVID-19 situation has been basically brought under control. However, the epidemic is still developing complicatedly in many localities, and a new Omicron variant has appeared in some countries. To continue to effectively control and prevent the epidemic while developing the economy and society and ensuring the people's livelihoods, the Prime Minister requests:
1. The People's Committees of provinces and centrally-administered cities shall direct all levels to implement the spirit of Resolution No. 128/NQ-CP dated October 11, 2021, of the Government on "Safe, flexible adaptation and effective control of the COVID-19 epidemic"; proactively assess the actual risk level to promptly implement appropriate epidemic prevention and control measures, without causing congestion, hindering production and business activities, and affecting the lives of the people.
2. Ministries, ministerial-level agencies, government agencies, and People's Committees of provinces and centrally-administered cities should promote socio-economic development while ensuring strict adherence to the 5K principles, further accelerating the safe, scientific, and effective vaccination rate, and implementing the disease prevention and control measures of the National Steering Committee for COVID-19 Prevention and Control and the Ministry of Health.
