Cong Phuong and the story of joining Truong Tuoi Binh Phuoc
After leaving Yokohama (Japan), Cong Phuong decided to return home to play for the First Division team Truong Tuoi Binh Phuoc. In terms of expertise, this is a step back in the career of the Nghe An striker.
As of this writing,Cong Phuong is the Vietnamese player who has "gone abroad" the most times, playing for Mito Hollyhock (Japan), Incheon United (Korea), Sint-Truiden (Belgium) and Yokohama (Japan). However, none of these adventures have achieved the desired results.

In nearly 5 seasons of "bringing the bell to strike in foreign lands", the familiar position of the striker born in 1995 was on the bench. According to statistics, the player nicknamed "Vietnamese Messi" only had a total of 17 appearances with a total of 536 minutes, and did not score any goals.
Especially during his time playing in Japan, Cong Phuong was only known for his roles as "handing out flyers at the subway station" and "making good coffee". Obviously, Cong Phuong's presence in the "land of the rising sun", "land of Kim Chi" and "land of chocolate" is essentially just commercial, similar to Quang Hai, Van Hau, Xuan Truong, Tuan Anh...
As a result of those days of sitting on the bench in a "foreign land", Cong Phuong's performance has declined dramatically and he often misses appointments with the Vietnam National Team. The last time Cong Phuong wore the red shirt was in a friendly match against the Palestine National Team, which took place on September 11, 2023.

Although there has been information about leaving Yokohama for quite a while, Cong Phuong has not been invited back by V.League teams. One of the reasons why the former Hoang Anh Gia Lai striker has difficulty finding a new home in the most prestigious playground of Vietnamese football is the high signing fee (over 6 billion VND/year).
Finally, Cong Phuong had to accept to join the giant in the National First Division, Truong Tuoi Binh Phuoc. Agreeing to join the team nicknamed "The Green Warriors", Cong Phuong ended his disappointing adventure in Japan. Pity for Cong Phuong, pity for the country's football.
Hopefully, Cong Phuong will play excellently, contributing to helping Truong Tuoi Binh Phuoc complete its goal in the 2024/2025 National First Division. And the door to returnVietnam team still open to the striker from Nghe An./.
