Nghe An province's foreign affairs activities in 2023 were vibrant and effective.
(Baonghean.vn) - In 2023, Nghe An province's foreign affairs work truly flourished with many outstanding activities, such as successfully organizing delegations to go abroad, implementing Party foreign affairs work, friendly cooperation between governments, attracting investment, trade, and tourism.
According to the assessment of the Provincial People's Committee at its regular meeting in November 2023, foreign affairs work in 2023 was implemented synchronously on three pillars: Party diplomacy, State diplomacy, and people-to-people diplomacy.
This was also a year in which foreign affairs truly flourished with many outstanding activities such as successfully organizing delegations abroad, carrying out Party foreign affairs, fostering friendly cooperation between governments, and attracting investment, trade, and tourism.

Party foreign affairs work continues to be implemented vigorously. Serious guidance is being provided on the unified management of foreign affairs activities within the province; orienting the province's foreign information activities; and strengthening Party foreign relations with localities with traditional ties and potential partners.
State diplomacy has been implemented comprehensively and effectively. To date, the Provincial People's Committee has organized 16 delegations of provincial leaders to travel abroad; and has received and worked with 40 delegations/606 foreign visitors.
Nghe An province continues to maintain relations with traditional partners such as Xieng Khouang, Hua Phan and Bolikhamsai provinces (Lao People's Democratic Republic), Gyeonggi province (South Korea), Gifu province (Japan), Ulyanovsk province (Russian Federation); expanding relations with the United States, India, some European countries and business associations...
Through diplomatic efforts, the State has made a significant contribution to strengthening and further promoting traditional friendly cooperative relations, expanding cooperation with new partners, and boosting the promotion of advantages in attracting investment, trade, and tourism to potential foreign investors.

In particular, economic diplomacy has been implemented vigorously and comprehensively, undergoing profound qualitative and quantitative changes and achieving many outstanding results. The province has actively coordinated with central ministries, departments, and agencies, infrastructure investors, and strategic partners to promote the potential, strengths, and investment opportunities of Nghe An province to partners and countries around the world.
Strengthening investment connections with investors from traditional markets such as Japan, South Korea, China, Hong Kong, Taiwan, etc.; accompanying and supporting foreign investors in the process of exploring investment opportunities, implementing projects, and throughout their investment and business operations in Nghe An province.
Notably, during the visit of the Prime Minister and his wife to Singapore, the Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee worked with leaders of Seambcorp Group and the Singapore Manufacturing Federation (SMF) to further discuss promoting economic cooperation, especially in the fields of trade and investment; and presented the Decision on investment policy for the VSIP Nghe An II Project in Tho Loc Industrial Park.

In particular, the province successfully organized a working visit to the United States under the direction of the Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee. The delegation worked with and held seminars with the US-ASEAN Business Council, the US Semiconductor Association, the Vietnamese Embassy in the United States, and the Vietnamese Consulate General in Houston. These are major partners and markets for the province after Vietnam and the United States decided to upgrade their relationship to the highest level: a Comprehensive Strategic Partnership.
In addition, two seminars on connecting Nghe An and the United States were organized in Texas and Washington D.C., with the participation of numerous businesses and organizations, contributing to promoting investment and trade cooperation between US partners and Nghe An province.
To date, the number of workers sent abroad under contract is 18,639, reaching 128.54% of the plan. Goods export turnover is estimated at US$2.45 billion, an increase of 12.02% compared to the same period last year. The province has granted licenses to 15 new FDI projects and adjusted capital for 10 existing FDI projects, with a total newly licensed and adjusted investment capital of US$1.298 billion, including many large-scale projects.

Currently, the province has 11 ODA and preferential foreign loan programs and projects with a total investment of 9,620 billion VND, covering the fields of agriculture, health, wastewater treatment, and transportation infrastructure. Official Development Assistance (ODA) funds have made a significant contribution to the province's socio-economic development, poverty reduction, and infrastructure construction.
People-to-people diplomacy activities continue to be implemented effectively, gradually becoming more in-depth and practical. This contributes to strengthening traditional friendships, cooperation, and development with neighboring countries, and expanding relations with international friends and partners.
