Collaborators – the 'extended arms' of Nghe An Newspaper

Dang Cuong (recorded) January 15, 2025 08:39

Despite living in different regions and working in various professions, the contributors to Nghe An Newspaper all share one thing in common: a passion and a desire to accompany the newspaper on its journey of development.

They are the companions and "extended arms" of Nghe An Newspaper, making a significant contribution to the success of the Party newspaper. On the occasion of the Contributors' Conference, Nghe An Newspaper respectfully records the shared opinions and introduces some outstanding contributors - those who have continuously accompanied and contributed to the development of the newspaper.

Reporter Lan Ha: Grateful and appreciative.

In 2016, I happened to be approached by a close friend, Vo Thu Giang, a reporter for Nghe An Newspaper: "Hey, would you like to collaborate with Nghe An Newspaper?" Being naturally shy and reserved, I initially intended to refuse, but after being encouraged, I decided to give it a try. When I submitted my first article, I came up with the pen name Lan Ha, which sounds a bit cheesy, but unexpectedly, that name has stuck with me and the "Te Su" section of Nghe An Newspaper ever since.

Working as an international correspondent requires keen insight and the ability to quickly update information. Every morning, I start by monitoring news from major news agencies and reputable newspapers around the world. Selecting, analyzing, and editing information to suit Vietnamese readers, especially those in Nghe An, is always a significant challenge.

In the early days, I would submit 10 articles and be lucky if 1 or 2 were published. It was discouraging, but I told myself: Everyone who enters this profession has to overcome initial difficulties. So I persevered and tried harder each day. It wasn't until I saw my articles being published regularly, or was assigned urgent tasks when there were breaking news, that I truly found joy in this work.

More than eight years have passed, and I still haven't had the chance to meet the reporters and editors of Nghe An Newspaper in person. But through work-related exchanges, I've received a great deal of dedicated assistance from my colleagues, whether seniors or enthusiastic young people.

From simply submitting text-based news articles, I've now been assigned to manage the content for the news bulletin on the newspaper's official YouTube channel, and even tried my hand at voiceover recording – although my reading voice still has many shortcomings.

Looking back on the journey so far, I feel grateful and proud to have been a part of Nghe An Newspaper. Contributing to bringing quality international information to our readers has been a great joy. I hope to remain with the newspaper for a long time, perhaps until… retirement, or even further!

Collaborator Dao Tho: A journey of dedication

It has been exactly 10 years since I first wrote articles for Nghe An Newspaper. Looking back on that time, I clearly feel my connection with this prestigious Party newspaper and its powerful influence.

That year, I was a teacher in the mountainous region of Ky Son district. Every day, interacting with the lives of the ethnic minority communities, I always harbored a desire to share stories about their unique culture, customs, and traditions, about the simple yet vibrant life in the vast forests of western Nghe An province. This motivated me to write and submit articles. Unexpectedly, these articles, imbued with the spirit of the mountainous region, were quickly well-received, giving me the confidence to continue my career in journalism.

During the day I teach, and in the evenings I take my camera and travel to remote villages. For me, documenting the beauty of culture is not only a joy but also a responsibility – a way to preserve and pass on values to future generations, especially the students where I teach.

However, over time, I realized that simply preserving the information wasn't enough. What I wrote needed to have more practical value, to help people understand the policies and guidelines of the Party and the State. Only when awareness changes will life in the villages truly improve.

Two years ago, I transferred to work at the Propaganda Department of the Ky Son District Party Committee. In this new environment, I had the opportunity to access more important documents and information, thereby broadening my perspective. Previously, I only wrote about culture, but now I explore additional topics such as economic development models, education, healthcare, and stories about good people and good deeds. I believe these articles have had a positive impact. Many good models have been learned from and applied by the people, gradually improving their lives.

I remember a work trip to the border commune of Nam Can with reporters from Nghe An Newspaper. Watching how they explored the issue, researching and analyzing each aspect, I realized I still had much to learn. Previously, I often wrote based on personal feelings, rarely delving into the essence of the matter. From then on, I began to change my approach, striving to reflect on issues in a more comprehensive and multifaceted way.

For me, Nghe An Newspaper is not just a place to collaborate, but also a trusted companion. The newspaper has reached every nook and cranny, every remote village, bringing policies and guidelines to the people, becoming an indispensable source of spiritual nourishment. I am proud to have contributed a small part to that journey.

Collaborator Pham Thuy: Growing through companionship.

About 13-14 years ago, when I was a university student, the Nghe An newspaper left a deep impression on me through the lectures of my professors. The newspaper was mentioned as one of the pioneering local newspapers developing according to the convergent journalism model, applying multimedia to journalistic activities…

At that time, Nghe An Newspaper not only published traditional print editions but also promoted online platforms. The newspaper connected with readers in a flexible and modern way. What impressed me most was its ability to update information quickly, accurately, and from multiple perspectives. The articles not only reflected timely current events and politics but also delved into the fields of economics, culture, society, education, and national defense. The continuous innovation in form and content helped Nghe An Newspaper affirm its position as a modern, dynamic newspaper, meeting the development trends of journalism in the digital age.

After graduating, I was fortunate to collaborate with Nghe An Newspaper, particularly in the Legal section. This environment helped me grow both in skills and awareness. Through the dedicated guidance of experienced colleagues, I learned how to search for information, interview subjects, structure articles, and create engaging and easy-to-understand headlines. I was also very impressed with the professionalism of the editorial team, from editing the text to processing images; everything was done meticulously and thoroughly.

Working in the legal field, I realize my great responsibility extends beyond simply disseminating information; it also involves contributing to raising legal awareness within the community. Each article not only provides valuable information but also serves as a bridge to help people better understand the law, thereby fostering a sense of respect for the rule of law.

To this day, after many years of working with Nghe An Newspaper, the feeling of happiness when my articles are published remains as strong as the first time. I am proud to have contributed a small part to the newspaper's development, and I am also grateful for the lessons and opportunities for growth that Nghe An Newspaper has provided. I hope to continue my long-term partnership with the newspaper, spreading positive values to its readers.
