| The ancient citadel of Vinh was built in 1804 during the reign of Gia Long and was originally constructed of earth. It wasn't until the 12th year of Minh Mạng's reign (1831) that it was rebuilt with stone. The citadel is built in a hexagonal shape with a V-shaped structure.
