(Baonghean.vn) - The Earth Hour 2024 event will take place from 8:30 PM to 9:30 PM on Saturday, March 23, 2024, with the message "Saving electricity - make it a habit". Nghe An Power Company is implementing many practical activities to respond to this event.
The Earth Hour event was launched with the hope of creating a ripple effect in the community, contributing to raising awareness about energy conservation and sustainable environmental protection.
In response to the 2024 Earth Hour campaign, Nghe An Power Company has implemented many practical programs. Specifically, it has encouraged organizations, agencies, and customers to switch off lights and unnecessary electrical equipment during Earth Hour.8:30 PM to 9:30 PM, Saturday, March 23, 2024.
Instruct all subordinate units, officials, employees, and workers to implement all solutions to ensure electricity supply and thoroughly implement electricity saving measures at the unit, in their homes, and for customers under the unit's management.
In coordination with local authorities, organizations, associations, news agencies, and local information systems, various innovative and effective forms of propaganda have been implemented, impacting many customer groups in transforming awareness into action regarding the efficient and economical use of electricity, promoting the Earth Hour 2024 campaign and other electricity saving activities in Nghe An province.
In response to this year's Earth Hour campaign, Nghe An Power Company is posting promotional content about electricity saving and environmental protection in support of Earth Hour 2024 through images, video clips, scrolling text on screens, websites, and social media fanpages (Facebook, Zalo, etc.) from now until the end of March 2024. In addition, all employees and customers are encouraged to participate in the online contest "Learning about the efficient and effective use of energy" in support of Earth Hour 2024. According to statistics, during the 60-minute lights-off period of the Earth Hour 2023 campaign, Nghe An province experienced a power reduction of 9 MW, equivalent to a saving of 9,000 kWh of electricity; nationwide, a total of 298,000 kWh was saved.
Earth Hour is an initiative of the World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF) aimed at raising public awareness about climate change and energy conservation worldwide. To date, the Earth Hour campaign has become one of the world's largest environmental campaigns, with participation in over 180 countries and territories.
In Vietnam, Earth Hour is a social activity spearheaded by the Ministry of Industry and Trade since 2009, aiming to raise public awareness about climate change and energy conservation by encouraging households and businesses to switch off lights and unnecessary electrical appliances for 60 minutes.
Over the past 16 years, Earth Hour in Vietnam has attracted the attention and participation of numerous agencies, organizations, businesses, and people nationwide. This demonstrates a positive shift in community awareness regarding the efficient and effective use of energy.
