Hoa Son Company aims to achieve 30,000 tons of cassava starch for export.

(Baonghean) - The cassava starch processing plant project, invested by Hoa Son Agricultural Products Processing Co., Ltd., is considered a key project approved by the Provincial People's Committee.

Accordingly, the factory site covers an area of ​​over 22 hectares in Hamlet 12, Hoa Son Commune (Anh Son District). The factory's raw material area has been approved by the province for planning across 42 communes in 4 districts: Anh Son, Con Cuong, Tuong Duong, and Quy Chau, with a scale of 3,350 hectares of cassava. The total investment for the project is over 700 billion VND, of which over 200 billion VND is invested in the construction of the processing plant.

According to the plan, phase 1 of the factory has a capacity of 150 tons of cassava starch per day, equivalent to 570 tons of fresh cassava per day. Phase 2 is expected to increase the factory's capacity to 300 tons of starch per day. In November 2015, the factory officially began operation and production, producing the first products including cassava flour, cassava pulp, and other products that meet export standards. After more than a year of operation, in September 2016, the factory officially entered mass production.

To improve production efficiency, the company's leadership invested over 100 billion VND in a state-of-the-art wastewater and environmental treatment system imported from Europe, with a capacity of 2,400 m3 per day/night. The system recovers biogas from both production and domestic wastewater. This integrated system includes machinery, a closed-loop, automated production line, a backup water reservoir sourced from natural sources, biogas digesters, physico-chemical partitions, settling tanks to treat wastewater to standard A, an activated carbon filtration system, chemical mixing tanks, and an aeration system. Thanks to this closed-loop system, 30% of the wastewater is recycled for the factory, while the remaining 70% is used for irrigating crops.

Currently, the wastewater treatment and environmental equipment system is basically complete, with some items nearing completion to meet the required standards. In the 2016 production season, the factory's fresh cassava consumption reached 110,000 tons, and starch production reached 30,000 tons exported to Japan, China, Taiwan, and South Korea; revenue exceeded 200 billion VND, contributing 15 billion VND to the state budget.

Building on that success, in 2017, the factory aimed to purchase and produce 140,000 tons of fresh cassava, produce 35,000 tons of starch, generate revenue of 300 billion VND, and create jobs for hundreds of workers in the district and surrounding areas with an average income of 5.5 million VND per person per month.
