Ban Ve Hydropower Company aims to produce 1 billion kWh of electricity in 2024.
On September 10th, Ban Ve Hydropower Company completed its electricity production plan assigned by Power Generation Corporation 1 for 2024 (774 million kWh), and at 2:14 PM on October 11th, the company reached the milestone of 1 billion kWh of electricity production, approximately equal to the average electricity production over many years (1012 million kWh).
To achieve this impressive output, starting from the last months of 2023, the company focused on water storage during the late flood season, bringing the reservoir water level to 199.65m by early 2024, ready to serve downstream water supply and power generation for the electricity system in 2024.
During the 2024 dry season (from January 1st to July 19th), the inflow into Ban Ve reservoir averaged only 57.35 m³.3/s (corresponding to a total water volume of 1 billion m³)3However, the Ban Ve reservoir has already released 1.9 billion cubic meters of water downstream.3(average 110.78 m)3(/s), plays a crucial role in ensuring downstream water supply, contributing to bountiful harvests in the Winter-Spring and Summer-Autumn seasons of Nghe An province.
During the early months of the 2024 flood season, the Ban Ve reservoir basin experienced a sudden surge in inflow, with an average inflow of 557.68 m³ during the period from July 20th to September 30th.3The Ban Ve Hydropower Plant has played a crucial role in flood control and reduction for downstream areas by closely coordinating with the functional agencies of Nghe An province to correctly implement the Inter-Reservoir Operation Procedure on the Ca River basin and the reservoir regulation orders of the Steering Committee for Flood and Storm Prevention, Search and Rescue & Disaster Relief of Nghe An province.
In 2024, the electricity sector faced many difficulties in supplying and ensuring electricity for the national load. By achieving high production milestones, Ban Ve Hydropower Company ensured grid stability and supplied electricity to the northern load of the Vietnamese power system.
To achieve these accomplishments, in addition to favorable hydrological conditions, credit must be given to the leadership and staff of Ban Ve Hydropower Company for their outstanding performance in managing, operating, and maintaining the plant, ensuring maximum availability and stable, reliable operation. The company collaborated effectively with relevant units in regulating the reservoir and operating the generating units in the competitive wholesale electricity market to minimize excess discharge through the spillway, exceeding the revenue target set by Power Generation Corporation 1.
In the final months of 2024, building on the achievements already made, Ban Ve Hydropower Company will continue to strive to complete and excel in the remaining targets and tasks assigned by Power Generation Corporation 1 for the year.
