Cong Vinh: 'After I retire, I will probably cry'
(Baonghean.vn) - With the Vietnamese national team finishing the group stage of the AFF Cup 2016 with many successes, striker Le Cong Vinh shared touching stories about his nearly 20 years of playing football on his personal page.
“I love football very much and I think, after retiring, I will miss football very much. I will probably cry. Right now, I want to play to the best of my ability. I want to be stronger, practice and run every day. Because I love the matches and love football very much…”, the striker born in 1985 shared when deciding to say goodbye to the Vietnam National Team after the AFF Cup 2016.

Cong Vinh had a difficult childhood. |
Contributing 2 important goals in the achievement of reaching the semi-finals of the AFF Cup 2016, Le Cong Vinh continues to affirm himself as the number 1 striker of the national team. Returning to Ho Chi Minh City after 3 intense matches in the group stage, Cong Vinh could not hide his emotions when thinking about his own journey when the day of saying goodbye to the Vietnam national team is not far away:
“Everyone has beautiful memories of their youth. My youth, when I was 12 years old, I took all my possessions, which were 2 sets of clothes, left my family to join the SLNA youth team, then at 18 I joined the Vietnam national team… Almost 20 years of eating, sleeping, suffering, and happiness with the round ball. Enough sweat and tears to grow up and mature. There were also times when the “storm” came and I thought I would collapse, but then I patiently and stubbornly stood up.”
The “legend” of Vietnamese football shared: “Life is like a book, turn each page to truly understand. But no matter how powerful, poor or rich, no one can win over time, so always cherish the moments you live, are passionate and love, so that when they pass, there will be no regrets.
A man’s life does not require anything too lofty. Just knowing how to be determined to refuse to do bad things and learn to be a good person is the greatest success in life. To be able to smile peacefully when you are old and your teeth fall out is enough. Just try to live well, do good, then no matter how great the injustice, you will be rewarded accordingly. No matter what happens tomorrow, the sun will still rise…”

Striker Le Cong Vinh shines on the field. |
Although he felt extremely regretful, Cong Vinh had every right to be satisfied with what he had done for himself and for national football. Up to now, Le Cong Vinh has set a series of new records. He is currently the player who has played the most matches (83 matches) and scored the most goals (51 goals) for the Vietnam National Team. At the AFF Cup alone, Cong Vinh has also become the Vietnamese player with the most goals (15 goals), surpassing Huynh Duc's achievement (14 goals). But it seems that Cong Vinh is no longer interested in this. Because the time when he officially retires from the national team is not long away.
After retiring from international competition, giving opportunities to his juniors, Cong Vinh will most likely continue to work in the football field, but certainly in a different role. Currently, he is still a student at Hanoi Law University, studying and working. Cong Vinh is a calculating person, and if in 4 years, people see the Nghe An striker become a representative and manager in the football field, it will not be surprising.
