Cong Vinh releases 13 players.

Ho Chi Minh City FC has announced the release of up to 13 players as part of Acting President Le Cong Vinh's ambitious plan to overhaul the team.

Ho Chi Minh City FC surprised everyone by announcing the departure of 13 players. Those who will not be participating in the 2018 V-League season include Do Thanh Sang, Luong Van Nhan, Nguyen Tuan Anh, Vo Duy Nam, Nguyen Anh Tai, Trinh Quang Vinh, Chau Le Phuoc Vinh, Le Manh Dung, Nguyen Trong Phi, Nguyen Hong Viet, Quoc Thien Esele, Victor, and Da Sylva.

Thirteen players have left Ho Chi Minh City FC as part of Cong Vinh's squad overhaul plan.

Explaining the reasons for parting ways with a number of players, Acting Chairman Le Cong Vinh said: “The players being released were both lacking in professional skills and lacked effort in training. It's better to promote young players to replace them than to keep them. In Nguyen Anh Tai's case, he voluntarily requested to leave. I plan to bring in 3 to 4 more players from the youth team to the first team.”

Besides parting ways with a number of players, Cong Vinh also revealed his personnel plans: “Basically, we have agreed on terms with coach Toshiya Miura and Tran Phi Son. It’s not the time to announce new contracts yet. We plan to bring in 10 new faces.”

Ho Chi Minh City FC had previously recruited two new players: goalkeeper Thanh Diep (from XSKT Can Tho) and defender Sam Ngoc Duc (from Hanoi FC).
