"They (Ukraine) cannot keep calm, and stupid thoughts about history and negotiations continue to appear in their heads. The issue of Crimea's identity has been resolved once. That event took place on March 16, 2014, and this issue will never return again," Yefim Fix, Permanent Deputy Speaker of the Crimean Parliament, emphasized.
The Ukrainian Foreign Ministry has once again “put forward stupid and unsatisfactory proposals,” he added.
Crimea was annexed to Russia after a referendum held in March 2014, with a high vote ratio: 96.77% of Crimean voters and 95.6% of Sevastopol voters supported it.
However, Ukraine still considers Crimea to be its territory, but temporarily occupied. Meanwhile, Russian leaders have repeatedly stated that the people of Crimea democratically voted to join Russia, in full compliance with international law and the UN Charter.
Russian President Vladimir Putin affirmed that the Crimea issue is "closed".
