(Baonghean.vn) - The Standing Vice Chairman of the Crimean Parliament affirmed that no negotiations have been held with the Ukrainian authorities regarding the return of the Crimean Peninsula to Ukrainian jurisdiction. The annexation of Crimea by Russia has been settled and remains unchanged.

"They (Ukraine) cannot remain calm, and foolish thoughts about history and negotiations continue to run through their minds. The issue of Crimea's identity has already been resolved once. That event took place on March 16, 2014, and it will never return to this issue again," emphasized Yefim Fix, Permanent Vice Chairman of the Crimean Parliament.

He added that the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry had once again "made stupid and inappropriate proposals."

Crimea was annexed by Russia following a referendum held in March 2014, with a high percentage of votes: 96.77% of Crimean voters and 95.6% of Sevastopol voters supported the annexation.

However, Ukraine still considers Crimea to be part of its territory, albeit temporarily occupied. Meanwhile, Russian leaders have repeatedly stated that the people of the Crimean Peninsula, through democratic means and in full compliance with international law and the UN Charter, voted to join Russia.

Russian President Vladimir Putin asserted that the issue of Crimea has been "closed".
