Cristiano Ronaldo buys a Bugatti Chiron worth $2.9 million.

The Portuguese football star was spotted driving a Bugatti Chiron at his villa with his son, Cristiano Ronaldo Jr.

Cristiano Ronaldo recently posted a video on Instagram of himself driving his Bugatti Chiron up from the basement of his mansion. The video, after 13 hours, has garnered 11.3 million views and 52,300 comments.

According to The Sun, the Portuguese player spent £2.2 million, equivalent to $2.9 million, to own a Bugatti Chiron, and had the manufacturer embroider his nickname "CR7" onto the seat backs.

The Chiron isn't Ronaldo's first Bugatti, as he already owns a Veyron worth £1.7 million. The Sun commented: "Ronaldo currently earns around £20 million a year, so spending £2.2 million on a Bugatti Chiron is nothing to him."

Off the pitch, Ronaldo has long been known as a supercar enthusiast. CR7 recently purchased a limited-edition Ferrari F12 TDF, of which only 799 units were sold worldwide, in early September, just over two weeks before the Chiron. This is not to mention a host of other prestigious cars such as the Lamborghini Aventador, Aston Martin DB9, Audi R8, Rolls-Royce, Bentley, and more.

Regarding the car itself, the Bugatti Chiron was created to succeed the "king of speed," the Veyron. The Chiron uses an 8.0L W16 engine with four turbochargers, producing 1,479 horsepower and 1,600 Nm of torque. It can accelerate from 0-100 km/h in 2.5 seconds and has a top speed of 420 km/h.

To ensure the hypercar performs flawlessly, engineers had to equip it with 10 radiators, along with a gearbox, drivetrain, brakes, tires, and wheels developed specifically for it. Bugatti only produced 500 Chirons worldwide.
